From The Pages Of... RPG APPLICATION

Screen Name: Jono Starsmore

Character you'd like to portray: Dan Dreiberg -- The Nite Owl

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Dan has no superhuman abilities, though after years of extensive training in hand-to-hand combat, along with his brilliant technical wizardry (which has helped him create many crime-fighting gadgets), he is a formidable hero.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): DC Comics Watchmen #1

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):

Born in 1968, Daniel Dreiberg relied more upon technical wizardry and tools than toughness, which set him apart from his fellow costumed adventurers. Still, he has demonstrated more than adequate skills when defending himself. All of his gadgets and costumes are based on an owl theme. He uses an owl-shaped flying vehicle nicknamed the "Owlship" or "Archie" , equipped with a variety of offensive and defensive devices, such as flamethrowers and "screechers" -devices capable of producing a sharp screech-like sound.

Dreiberg's father was a banker who left him a large inheritance, which he used to design and build his crime-fighting gear. Hollis Mason, the original Nite Owl, was his hero and when he retired, Dan wrote to Mason, asking if he could carry on his name. Upon looking at his gear, Mason was too impressed to refuse, and gave Dan the greenlight to start fighting crime in the mid-1970's. From then, the two men became friends, and met every Saturday at Hollis' house.

In 1985, Dreiberg (as Nite Owl) successfully debuted and teamed up with fellow costumed adventurer Rorschach to take on organized crime. He supported the idea of costumed vigilantes forming a group to fight crime strategically, but his partner, Rorschach, and the Comedian rejected the idea. After the Purge, Dan decided to continue his life as a costumed adventurer, and protect the innocent, though it seemed he was on his own at the time.

His owl-ship represents advancements in propulsion, nautical engineering, and aerodynamics that would have exceeded the level of technological innovation known at this time, suggesting that Dreiberg was a genius, though as a costumed adventurer he would have had access to fellow hero Dr. Manhattan's nuclear technology.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero.

List a few reasons why you chose this character: After reading the entire graphic novel, I couldn't pass the chance up to play Dan. He reminds me a lot of my favorite characters in both the DC and Marvel Universes, including Beast, Daredevil, and Batman.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: I plan on portraying Dan a more confident Hero, as well as more formidable in hand-to-hand combat. After the events of 9/11, he would become more fierce and brutal in his fight against crime ; much like Rorschach, but not that brutal. :woot:

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: A decent roleplayer who's willing to interact with anyone, no matter what universe. Also, I'm going to be posting as frequently as possible to keep this thing alive, because I think it's an awesome idea.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: See sentence two, above.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

Christ. Sometimes I wonder why I still do this ; why I fight to protect the innocent from a world that's only going to become darker by the minute -- looming in my cave in the underground...waiting. With Rorschach gone on his own blood-craving patrols, I was alone. Just me an' old Archie, my flying machine.

The ovular shaped flying vehicle, dibbed the name "Archie", suddenly burst from the waters of Manhattan, it's repulsors allowing it to ascend higher into the star-less sky. Sitting in the cockpit was a man garbed in dark brown chainmail, along with a pointy-eared mask and goggles covering his eyes. He was Nite-Owl.

Apparently, police have found numerous victims....all with their heads severed from the scalp, brain exposed. Whether it was a man of super-human abilities, or just a plain sicko, I didn't know. What I did know, is that I needed to find my friends. My allies. Whatever this guy was, I was going to need help. Powerful help. Two men came to mind.

Dr. Manhattan. Rorschach.

Though the wherabouts of Dr. Manhattan were still unknown to Dan, he knew where to find Rorschach. He'd be right there, lurking in the shadows near the scene of the crime...waiting for the pigs to go home for the night. Then, and only then, would he investigate. And he'd also be surprised by a rendevous with an old friend.

Character you'd like to portray: Big-Head

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: While wearing the mask, the wearer is endowed with immortality, vast reality warping powers, a hunger for incredible violence, and complete and utter insanity.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Dark Horse's The Mask.

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): No one knows where the mask came from. Stanley Ipkiss simply found it in an antique shop one day and decided to buy it for his girlfriend, Kathy, who has a penchant for antiquities. One evening, as a joke, Stan mockingly put the mask on his face and suddenly found that his whole world had changed. He now had incredible superpowers and a thirst for blood.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Villain, at least for now.

List a few reasons why you chose this character: Because Big-Head deserves to be shown for the badass that he is. I've loved the original The Mask trilogy by John Arcudi and Doug Mahnke for years now, just for the ridiculous level of cartoon violence having real world consequences being a very unique and entertaining metaphor for substance abuse.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: In the comics, Big-Head is the only real supernatural being in his universe, so interacting with other characters in this RPG should be some new ground for him. I will also be spending more time with Ipkiss' character before I kill him off and move on to letting Lieutenant Kellaway wear the mask.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: Sentence #1: I shall carry with me unto this roleplaying game a merry bloodbath of cartoony violence, brought to you by the letter T. Sentence #2: I'm one of the so-called veterans here, so I'm hoping that I can at least bring some quality stories.

How many days a week do you intend on posting in the RPG: As many as required for the situation.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

"Kathy, hon, have you seen the mask?"

Stanley paced around the apartment for what seemed like forever, but the mask was no where in sight. He couldn't believe it, he was actually sweating at the thought of not having the mask any more. 'My list isn't going to take care of itself!' Stan thought as he continued his search. Under the couch? No. Behind the pillows? No. In the fridge? Dammit, no! Where the fu--

"Here you go, Stanley," called Kathy from the door of the bedroom. She walked to her boyfriend and handed him the mask with only a slight hint of concern on her face. "What the hell is so great about this thing anyway, Stan? Almost every day, all you do is come here, pick up the mask and put it in your backpack, and then leave for hours before coming back and putting the mask back on to my shelf with the rest of the antiques." Putting her hands on her hips, Kathy's face went from concern to anger. "We never do anything anymore. Can we at least go to dinner or a movie? Hell, let's just have sex. Anything at all, Stan."

As Kathy was ranting at him, all Stanley Ipkiss could focus on was the thought of what he would do with the names on his list, with the help of the mask. "Sorry, Babe. I would love to continue this chat, but I've really got to go right now," said Stan as he stuffed the mask into his bag and made for the door.

"Stanley!" growled Kathy.

"'Kay, thanks. Love ya! Bye!" As soon as Ipkiss was out the door, he pulled the crumpled up list out of his pocket. This was important business that he had to take care of, alright. Stanley Ipkiss had to murder each person whose name he had written down:
 • Jimmy McWhirter: Owes me sixty bucks
 • Mrs. Gazzo: Failed me in fourth grade English
 • Marc and/or Fluffy: Dog keeps crapping in our yard
 • Hasbro: Not enough articulation in new Marvel Legends action figures
 • Halle Berry: She sux
 • Joel Shumacher: Need a reason?
 • Osama Bin Laden: Fill my daily heroic quota
 • George Bush: Fill my daily heroic quota
Once he stepped out of the small apartment building, Stanley smiled maliciously to himself, looked around to make sure that no one was watching, and then pulled the mask out from his backpack and pressed it against his face.

"Ah! Much better!" The thing that had become known to police everywhere as the Big-Head Killer over the last couple months grinned impossibly wide and lit a cigarette and looked at his list again. "Say 'hi' to Satan for me, boys!" laughed Big-Head.

Screen Name: Syn (Mercenary)

Character you'd like to portray: John Osterman, Dr. Manhattan

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest:

-Control over space and time
-Regeneration
-Energy and matter manipulation
-Flight
-Immortality
-Superhuman strength
-speed and durability
-Intangibility
-Precognition
-Teleportation
-Self-duplication
-Superhuman growth
-Does not age

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Watchmen, DC

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):
I'm keeping his history the same exact way it is in the comic, this way I don't risk messing up any important details to his life. However, there are some alterations like the dates of the Crimebusters initiation and so forth.

Also, Dr. Manhattan worked for the government until after the 90s. He resigned, and went into a "solititude" to work on his own work. After he left his service in 1999, he went into an exile into the stars. No one knows where he went or why.

All they know is he is gone, and no longer among them on Earth. But they do know one thing. Where ever, whenever he is. He is watching.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: I guess hero.

List a few reasons why you chose this character:
Aside from Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan is my favorite character in Watchmen. There has never been a character like him before, and I doubt there ever will be. I love his concept, history, everything and he's always been someone I was interested in playing.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: Not very much except that he is now concerned with the problems in this new world such as rising heroes, villains, etc.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: I can bring an experianced RPGer and avid Watchmen fan here. In addition, I hope to expand on Dr. Manhattan, and not re-invent him.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: As many as I need to.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

The stars, an infinite mystery to the human mind. They glow brightly, beautiful dots on the night sky's back drop. Their glow is pretty to the eye, dazzling and serene. To some, their shimmer in the sky is a gleam of hope. To others, it is an omen of fortune. Some even use them as tools, guides for finding their way. Others look up into the sky and see a story, a tale of valor and heroes.

But they are not any of these things. In reality, they are merely hot, burning balls of gas and fire. No being can survive its power, the force emitted by them stronger than any other power in the solar system. To universes, stars are their gods, controlling who lives and who dies. Stars aren't the beauty and majesty humans percieve them to be. Not in reality.

Among these stars are planets, many spheres revolving daily in their own orbits, part of a much bigger picture then themselves. Among these many worlds in the universe, life waits to be found. Some believe it to exist, others feel it is an impossibility. But if anything has been proven it is there isn't the impossible. There is only the improbable.

On the cold and barren world of the fourth planet from the sun, Mars as it has been called, winds blow and kick up the red iron dust into the air. Clouds of red brush over the landscape, floating over the moutains and into the valleys. Among this deserted world, only one thing seems to be able to be seen; rocks, simple rocks that have formed over years and years. But there is something else here. A being. A god.

Against the crimson backdrop, there is something else to be seen. Its colors do not mix, its tones to not match, its appearance does not blend. It walks up right, bi-ped, moving along the surface quietly and calmly. The being stops, holding still among the dust and sand. It looks up to the sky, it's white eyes poking through the black dimond shapes surround its eyes, the pale blue color of its skin seeming to glow.

The being does not breath, he doesn't sigh, and he doesn't frown. He simply is, staring into the black background above him at something more than himself. Slowly, his eyes close, and they shut tightly. His lips suddenly raise, and for the first time in years, an expression forms on its face.

"Time..." it says, speaking low and bold to no one but itself. "Some one has altered time once more." The being's body begins to glow, the the sand around its feet raises off the ground. A force like a wind begins to emit from it as the light coming from its figure shines brighter and brighter. In a sudden flash, it disappears, leaving only a large wave of air to cascade across the surface of the planet.

As the ground settles, and the planet returns to its state, a trailing voice can be heard. It is the sound of the being, his tone and complextion. "I cannot stand by any longer," the whisper says. "I must intervene."

Screen Name: Byrd Man

Character you'd like to portray: Denny Colt/The Spirit

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: No powers, but a keen detective mind and excellent fighting skills.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): The Spirit, now owned by DC, the comic first started appearing in Sunday comic strips in the 1940s

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): The son of a Central City Police officer, Denny Colt was a detective in Central City. His father's old friend Dolan was now police commissioner. Dolan looked after Denny, a posthumous favor to his old friend while Denny was dating Dolan's daughter, Ellen. One night, after a botched investigation. Denny was thought killed, but returned from the grave and vowed to continue his fight for justice. Now, only Ellen and Dolan know the man who was Denny Colt. The people of Central City call him something else all together.

He is a ghost, he is a shadow, a walking dead man. The Spirit.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character: The Spirit is on of America's first street-level heroes. And me loving street level guys, this is a mathc made in heaven.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: My version of Spirit will be closer to Cooke's version than Eisner's or *Shudders* Miller's

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: I can bring a decent RPer who has had two years (damn I'm old!) experience in these RPGs

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: As much as possible.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

Central City

"What do we got?" I ask Dolan as we walk underneath the yellow crime scene tape and into a small apartment.

"It's the same as the last one, Spirit. No mark on them, the only way you know the guy's dead is...." He leads me into a small bedroom where a dead man lays on the bed with the top of his head cut off.

"Whoever this sick bastard is, he likes brains."

While Dolan talks, I look through the dead man's bedroom for clues.

"You remember this happening a few years back out west?"

"What with the heads?"

"Yeah, I remember it now. All the bodies had the tops of their heads cut off. Perp was never caught."

"Wait a minute....what are you thinking?"

"I think we have a serial killer on our hands."

"It goes deeper than that." A voice says from the next room. A tall man, with glasses comes through the door and looks at Dolan and I.

"My name is Noah Bennet. This investigation is now under my jurisdiction."

"Who are you with, Mr. Bennet?"

"That's classified information, Commissioner. But I know one thing, I need your and The Spirit's help if we're going to catch Sylar."

Character you'd like to portray: Nicole “Niki” Sanders

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Super Strength, Suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): The NBC show “Heroes”

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): As an abused child, Niki watched as her sister died before her, eventually leading to a dual personality based on Jessica, her sister. Later on, she began discovering Jessica as she became prominent in her life, acting aggressive and violent towards those who pose harm to Niki and Micah, their son. Working for Lindeman, Jessica took control, acting as the mobster’s assassin. When Micah was kidnapped, Jessica and D.L. worked together to stop him, eventually choosing Niki’s life over her personal needs. Jessica seemingly disappeared after that after helping Niki control her abilities on her own.
Months later, Niki sought help from the Company in controlling Jessica and any other personality after the tragic death of her husband. Haunted by visions of D.L., Niki injected herself with the Shanti Virus, prohibiting her abilities. Although Mohinder Suresh vowed he would cure her, Niki returned to New Orleans awaiting the doctor. After explaining her situation to Micah, he requested her help in rescuing Monica Dawson who had run into trouble with some thugs while trying to rescue some of Micah’s valuable possessions. She was able to rescue Monica, but she herself was unable to get out, leaving Monica and Micah to worry over her fate.
Now, Niki has seemingly survived the explosion, but who exactly is in control? With the public now knowing about the evolved human population and super powered people using their gifts for both good and evil, which side will Niki stand on?

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Walking the line. She’s really good and evil rolled into one.

List a few reasons why you chose this character:
1.She has two distinct personalities that allows extended character development
2.She’s hot
3.I find it cool that the single mom on the show gets Super Strength.

How will this character differ from its original incarnation?: Niki will once again deal with Jessica, though this time she’s even more unsure of her intentions. Whose side is Jessica on? Also in this RPG, Niki is actually alive, wherein the show she has been killed (I believe at least, you never know)

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG:
I want to explore Niki and Jessica further than they did on the show, as well as Niki’s control over her evolved human abilities which she never used much. I see a potential epic battle ahead of this girl.

She rubbed her eyes as she stood up, examining her surroundings.

Looking down at her body, she shrieked at the sights. Her flesh was burnt, and dried blood covered her arm. Placing her hands on her face, she could feel it charred.

How had this happened? She wondered before recalling the deadly fire.

Explosions were all around her, as timbers flashed, and pieces of the structure fell all around her. Then everything was blank. She had no memory whatsoever of what happened after that.

“What are you doing?”

Niki suddenly turned around to come face to face with…..herself.

“You...this isn’t happening….I...I…I got rid of you, this can’t be happening”

The other women smiled, as she crossed her arms.

“But…I’m hurt” Niki cried “What’s happening! Where’s Micah!”

The women gave out a sinister laugh.

“Micah? Niki your ignorance is entertaining. Don’t you remember? You couldn’t save Micah. He died in the explosion. You would be there too if not for me. You owe me Niki, and you and I have a little business to attend to.”

“What? Micah…no! I…I…I remember though, He got out, he got Monica and ran.”

“Apparently not fast enough. Now shut up and listen to me. Micah’s gone. D.L. is gone. I’m the only one you have.”

Not a fan of Niki, but the app is good.

From The Pages Of... RPG APPLICATION

Screen Name: Eddie Brock

Character you'd like to portray: Peter Petrelli

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Peter's main power is empathy. By being in proximity, he can mimic the powers of anyone. Through this, he has acquired a number of other abilities, among these:
- Precognitive (Dreaming/Painting)
- Flight
- Regeneration/Immortality
- Telepathy
- Invisibility
- Telekinesis
- Space-Time Manipulation
- Radiation Manipulation (High risk of overloading)

(I'll only be using these, in addition to any he picks up along the way.)

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Heroes on NBC; also appears in graphic novels published by Wildstorm Comics.

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): Peter Petrelli was just a dreamer, a hospice nurse who longed for a greater calling. It all started with the dreams. Through a fated chain of events, Peter was recruited into a destiny larger than his own. Charged with the fate of the world, Peter rose to the challenge before realizing that he was the threat. Luckily, through the help of his allies, Peter was able to avoid disaster.

Taken in by the Company, Peter was held prisoner where he befriended Adam Monroe. Peter and Adam escaped daringly, and the mysterious Haitian helped Peter get away. Living as an amnesiac in Ireland, Peter eventually remembered his mission with Adam. His trust, however, had been misplaced, as Peter was betrayed at the last moment by Adam. Again, with his friends' help, Peter was able to overcome adversity and save the planet.

Things only got worse from there. Peter's brother, Nathan, decided to go public with these abilities. He was gunned down before he could. (This is where I break off continuity. A: It's easier that way. B: I don't want to spoil anything.) Many years later, the evolved humans have gone public, anyway. Peter elects to keep his identity a secret, though his name is well known by those who monitor evolved humans - most pertinently, the Company.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character: Peter Petrelli - especially his Future selves - is an interesting portrayal of someone earnest being given absolute power, and the effect it may have. Fortunately for everyone, Peter never turns his back on his ideals. He's a true idealist, someone who believes in destiny. In his heart, he knows that we all play a part, and one person can change the world.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: The world that Peter Petrelli came from is now fundamentally changed. No longer living in the shadows, the evolved humans are now a part of the larger society. Still, Peter keeps to himself, rising up when destiny calls for it.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: Well, you think I might have been a little dedicated to getting Peter - and the other Heroes - approved in this RPG? :oldrazz: That alone should tell you something, for better or worse.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: It will vary from week to week, but overall consistency is more important to me than weekly activity.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

"Mr. Petrelli, it has been a while, hasn't it?"

I don't know how they found me. I went deep, kept quiet. Months upon months of keeping my nose clean, and they still managed to track me down. Why can't they just leave me alone? After Nathan, that's all I want! I could have very easily retaliated after Nathan. Hell, I still have my suspicions that The Company was pulling the strings, but I left them alone.

"I haven't done anything," I reply indignantly, rising to my feet. Worse still, they found me in my own apartment - on the tenth floor. With The Company's agent blocking the door, my only possible escape is through the window.

The agent smiles. "No, you haven't," he admits casually. "Not yet, anyway. But we don't need another...incident...like the one in New York a few years ago - or the more recent fiasco in Odessa." The agent smirks proudly. "You're a dangerous person, Mr. Petrelli. Too dangerous to be out in the world. You're going to Level 5 for a long time."

I close my eyes and focus on Costa Verde, California. But I don't teleport. I can't.

"No cheating, Mr. Petrelli," the agent announces coolly. He snaps his fingers, and a familiar figure appears behind him. "I believe you two have met?"

The Haitian.

"Please, Peter. Come in peacefully."

I won't be trapped by The Company. I will not become their lab rat. Taking a deep breath, I run for the window. A bullet fired by The Company's agent barely clips my shoulder. Still, shockwaves of pain overtake my body as I dive helplessly through the glass. I pray that I'll be far enough away from the Haitian for Claire's power to work when I hit the ground.

If not, I guess we'll test her immortality.

Also, MB's Rorschach looks good as well.

Jono, Spike, and Syn's apps are OK by me.

Those three, along with Carnage27's app and my app will still need secondary approval.

Character you'd like to portray: Hellboy

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Superhuman strength, stamina, and durability, Healing factor, Extended lifespan, Ability to easily comprehend and interpret ancient magical languages, Knowledge and experience of fighting the supernatural, Invulnerable Right Hand of Doom is the key to the end of the world. (from Wikipedia)

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Hellboy, from Dark Horse

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): Same as it was, summoned by Nazis in WWII, found by Americans, spent the 20th Century as a paranormal investigator for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, only he never quit and is still with the Bureau.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character: Wanted to play him for a while, big fan of the character in all mediums, he’ll have a fun viewpoint of this new world.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: Very slightly, and only after the game starts.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: Hellboy and the BPRD can bring a new layer to the game and explore the basis of the way the world intertwines. Plus, brownies, the good kind.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: I’ll try for six or seven, depending on availability and the story itself.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

I look up at the grey clouds in the sky and run that poem through my head again.

"'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe."

I’ve had to memorize that damned poem, and I must’ve gone over it in my head about a dozen and a third times, just to try and figure it out. The Jabberwock, I can’t believe it. I mean, I’ve faced down the cream of the mythological crop in my day, but this damn thing isn’t even supposed to exist, and here I am, in the middle of the English countryside, looking for a monster from a poem.

Gotta admit though, that movie Gilliam made was funny as hell.

“So, what do you think of all this crap, Kate?” I say, barely turning towards her while I speak, “Is there any solid evidence that this thing is what killed those farmers, or is it as much nonsense as I think it is?”

Kate looks up from her laptop, “Not as of yet, but you know these things take time. You’re just impatient because you know start your vacation once we’re debriefed on this mission by the Bureau.” I grunt in agreement, tapping my hoof on the ground impatiently. “Wait..” Kate starts, sudden realization in her voice. Oh crap.

“You’re going to see Anastacia, aren’t you?” I slump my shoulders and mutter a quick response that she doesn’t quite here. “What was that?”

“It’s her birthday next week.” I repeat, louder, “And, as it stands now, if we find the punks that’re pulling this damn hoax today, we’ll go and get debriefed tomorrow, and that leaves me with only four days to fly to New York to pick her up a gift and then to go and meet her down in India for her birthday.”

“India?”

“Yeah, she’s researching a newly found ancient temple thing or some crap like that. Doesn’t matter to me, so long as I don’t run into any werewolves.”

“Please, no mention of the “w” word. I still have nightmares.” She says, shoving her nose back into her laptop. Jeez, I always forget that lycanthropes are a touchy subject with her.

Suddenly, I hear it, the “jabberwock”. Sounds like someone trying to gargle through a trumpet.

“Sounds like someone trying to gargle through a trumpet.”

“Yeah.” Kate says, but I’m already hoofing it, no pun intended, towards the source of the noise, and I nearly fall over laughing when I get sight of the damned thing. I was right, this is complete ridiculousness, a hoax. The thing I spot looks like the northern English farmboy’s version of one of those dragons from a Chinese New Years parade, and a cheaply made one at that.

But, these bozos did commit at least three horrible murders, and despite their normalness compared to what I was called in to take out, I’m the only lawman in the area and I can get out my frustrations by scaring the crap outta these kids.

Slipping off my trenchcoat and tossing my gun down to the ground with it, I charge the “jabberwock” boys, screaming at the top of my lungs. That should scare these punks good, or at least enough to let me arrest them without trouble.

It doesn’t work. Sonofa*****.

“HEY!” I yell as they walk by me, “Where do you think you’re going? School’s in session boys!” I grab onto the shoddy cloth “skin” of the “beast” and yank it off.

“Oh crap.” There’s no psycho farm kids, no loser drunk frat boys, nothing I expected, ‘cause I sure as hell didn’t expect something that looks like a giant skinless caterpillar with batwings. It rears up and lets out that gargle trumper noise again. I hear Kate gasp on the hill behind me.

I really should’ve kept my gun with me.

Do you know how to post pictures on the Hype boards?: Yes.

I had a thought. Would The Company be affiliated with the BPRD?

If this question has been answered already, forgive my ignorance.

The Comapany is Primatech paper in heroes lore.

I wondered about this as well. The Company seems too standoffish to me for them to have affiliations.

No. They're not affiliated with any governmental organization. They are a clandestine group that monitors, captures, and contains evolved humans.

Then they're not affliated with the B.P.R.D. Probably even somewhat at odds with them.
