Will you like him when he's veggie?
The actor like his salads big--and he's not too proud to share his dessert

In today's inbox: an organic Hulk!
Ed Norton, poker-faced as ever and brilliant as hell, was recently spotted at that raw-food Shangri-La located near Dupont and Spadina. Now, we know he's here in Toronto to grunt and to be green -- but is this precisely the kind of green that Marvel Pictures had in mind?
Yes, the Serious Actor has been working in these parts on the new Incredible Hulk, a movie that is less sequel or prequel than no-quel. Yes, they all said that the Serious Actor would have to bulk up to play Bruce Banner and his rambunctious id. And, yes, the Serious Actor was just at Live Organic Bar, where the raw zucchini noodles are said to be just tremendous.
This much I can guess: the CGI must be doing a lot of the heavy-lifting on this particular movie!
This brown-rice hangout -- a favourite also of Norton's good pal, Woody Harrelson -- is said to be a go-to-spot for those looking for tasty with their healthy. Consider the "rawvioli" sandwiches. Or the almond-herb spread. Oh, and all those wowy root vegetables. All of which sounds just swell, but the Hulk-equivalent of finding, say, Bill and Melinda Gates in the front row of a DSquared show during Milan Fashion Week.
Incidentally, Ed was spotted at Live just around the time last week when the Hulk was in the midst of the biggest fight of his movie. Shooting over in Hamilton, a spokesperson spilled thusly to the Spectator: "It's certainly a big fight scene and Hulk is doing a lot of destruction? a Hummer goes through the air ? there's a burning bus."
Meanwhile, on Dupont, we had our Oscar-nominated thespian having what our spy told us was a big bowl of salad. And, I do feel obliged to report, dessert -- which he shared!
But, on a somewhat more serious note: Is it me or is Norton's decision to tackle the Hulk saga part of an intriguing continuum that he began with his 1999 movie Fight Club? Both films involve alter-egos and both, in a way, are meditations on rage. I'm just sayin'.
MEANWHILE, I SEE, I HEAR:
That Ted Rogers -- titan of cable, cellular and everything else -- can't be too displeased with an upcoming biography about him. He's agreed to be at its book launch later this month at the Gardiner Museum!
The book is called High Wire Act. And its athlete deal-maker subject has already gotten a blurb from a former prime minister. Says Brian Mulroney of his friend and fellow plutocrat Ted Rogers: "Ted was dreaming of convergence before anyone knew how to spell it."
AND ALSO:
That there were all sorts of party monsters out for the opening last Thursday of Circa, the comeback of one of history's most notorious club kings, Peter Gatien. And standing out among all of them? (Well, besides American beauty Mena Suvari?) That would be acclaimed stylist and local loon of one-name note, Maha!
At first I really didn't recognize him when I ran into him at the John Street mega-boite. The fact that his head was hidden underneath a full-length French Fries costume might have had something to do with it.
"Who are you wearing?" I found myself asking him, to which Maha answered, " Alexandra McNugget," a riposte I thought rather satisfactory.

More on the Circa launch later this week. But I will say this: more people asked me, "Where's the bar?" than the sum total of times CTV anchorman Lloyd Robertson has uttered the words, "And that's the kind of day it's been." Like, a lot.
SCENE! HEARD! FINALLY!
Richard Florida, the celebrity urban guru who recently moved to Toronto to do his research at U of T, is as surprised as the rest of the city by the warm October temperatures!
