I just finished season one. I always loved the original adaptation, this was good but I liked the original better. As far as I remember, having read the novel 45 years ago, this covered the whole book, so any further seasons would be all new. I can't remember seeing anything else Cosmo was in, so I have a question about him. Does he always sound like he's doing a cheap Richard Burton voice?

Wow, so salty, he comes off so bitter "where's my attention!" Like people were supposed to talk about his adaptation because there's a new one, why? He says himself they're very different. I haven't read the book so I don't know if the romance was more prominent, but given the period the story is set in I'd imagine it was reserved. I also think it's funny when people use the "everyone I've talked to" argument, like how many people out of the millions who watched the show does that encompass? The idea that it wasn't entertaining for a western audience because it focused on Japanese history and political machinations instead of romance is just flat out ignorant.
