I think all this additional WW casting would be better in the general WW thread, and save this one for stuff specifically about Gal.

I can understand where you're coming from as a Gal/WW fan Raven. Personally I'm glad and excited BvS is coming first. From a live action DC point of view it is something very different. I'm looking forward to seeing the big three interacting, especially with Batman. It opens up a new other direction, narratively and tonally. We can see the contrast of their personalities.
I really want to see Gal succeed and do well just like you guys, and she is gorgeous but........I'm looking at her body of work and just.....damn. She has a huge uphill battle on her hands. Her acting.......might suck rofl. I really hope I'm wrong about this but from everything I've seen I don't know if she can be fierce, I don't know if she can display the range of emotions necessary to be a convincing Dianna. Which is a problem for most WW candidates so whatever.
Once we see a picture of her not anorexic, my tone will probably change.
I do hope she is the bright ray of sunshine in the movie like Anne was in TDKR. Affleck's Batman will naturally have to be a darker character, and Superman isn't exactly a barrel of laughs. Not that WW is a full-on comedienne, but just Gal's charming personality ought to shine through the same way Anne's did as Catwoman in every scene she was in.
The roles she got so far didn't have anything to act. So it's basically fear of unknown. She did good in given action sequences, though. And don't forget there are plenty of examples, where nobodies were cast and made roles their own.I really want to see Gal succeed and do well just like you guys, and she is gorgeous but........I'm looking at her body of work and just.....damn. If she can pull off "dead or alive you're coming with me" kind of thing, she should be fine. I didn't really see much range in Diana. She mostly remains cold and confident, yet showing occasional fierceness. She's not Peter Parker.I really hope I'm wrong about this but from everything I've seen I don't know if she can be fierce, I don't know if she can display the range of emotions necessary to be a convincing Dianna. This is actually one of lesser concerns, IMO...Once we see a picture of her not anorexic, my tone will probably change.
Well, there's no accounting for taste I guess.I find Hathaway as warm and as charming as snot flavoured ice cream, so I hope there are few parallels to be drawn with Gal's Wonder Woman.

my daughter just sat through the animated Wonder Woman movie and loved it and she has now seen Gadot and believes she is the "real" Wonder Woman (just like Cavill is the "real life" Superman - she's not seen MOS btw far too young for that just a couple of clips and pictures...in fact the WW animated was a bit brutal at times I might have scarred her for life...bad Dad) AAAAnyway if through a picture Gal can convince my girl then she's definitely worth backin in my book ha
The DC Animated movies are a bit much for young children. Some of them are a bit bloody and violent.
I do think that the live action WW can't just be a brutal warrior and tough *****. If your daughter has seen Gal Gadot and thinks of her as WW, that's great. The movie WW has to be an inspiration even to young girls - someone they would want to approach and see as friendly and kind hearted. I think Gal definitely has that quality about her, similar to Lynda Carter in the 70s.
How do you think WW will be portrayed in the movie? As more sweet and compassionate, or more fierce and warrior-like, or a mixture of both?
A mixture of both for me. I would prefer to see Wonder Woman as a warm, approachable, down-to-earth "princess" who, when required, can defend herself and others to the full extent of her abilities.
But, I don't see Wonder Woman as someone who would go looking for trouble (unless it was to help/rescue someone), who would deliberately provoke a conflict (instead of coming to a negotiated resolution) or who would relish in fighting or killing others (although she would kill if absolutely necessary).
Unfortunately, I fear that we'll end up with a Wonder Woman with a personality similar to the recent animated JL: War movie. A one-dimensional "warrior woman" who is simply interested in hacking and slashing.
