Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the film rights to Peter Kornbluhs Politico article, My Dearest Fidel: A Journalists Secret Liaison with Fidel Castro for the studios former marketing-distribution boss-turned-producer to shepherd at her Kroll & Co. Entertainment. Kroll has partnered with Gal Gadot and husband Jaron Varsano to develop the material. Narcos co-creator Chris Brancato will adapt Kornbluhs article for the screen. Kornbluhs article follows the untold story of how journalist Lisa Howard become one of Cuba leader Fidel Castros leading American confidants. Howard became a key asset in the establishment of a top-secret channel between Washington and Havana in the wake of repairing relations following the Cuban missile crisis. Howard was ABCs first full-time female reporter and the first woman to anchor her own TV news show. Attempting to change the course of the Cold War, Howards three trips to Havana were pivotal in advancing one of the most vital partnerships in the history of U.S.-Cuban relations.
