Galactus IS going to show up in this film per Tom Rothman!!!

As a fan you want to see as much as you can before release, and as a fan, you do not want to see too much. In my opinion wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much was shown, with the 1st one. We even knew the ending. They have what 2 more trailers to be released ? The big one will be released with Spider-Man 3. We know that Doom takes Surfers powers. We know there is a wedding. We know what the Fantasticar looks like. We know what the Thing, and The Surfer looks like. Besides that we know zip. We have not seen a picture of Doom.

ummmmm exactly, and that was not my point.....I was asking how anyone can have the opinion on the job they are doing, when as you just said, we haven't seen anything, including Doom, in your own words....."we know zip" so how do you know they are doing a great job???????

In your own words, you are basing your opinion on zip...

Well...me personally, i'd agree that they are doing a great job from what i've seen so far in regards to special effects....i thought that teaser looked magnificent....

At the same time, from what i've HEARD so far; it seems like they're skimping on the storyline...which is seriously upsetting me.

Im trying to remain positive, but Fox has traded art for profit in pretty much ALL of their superhero adaptions; Daredevil, X-Men, and the first FF.

I just wish they'd put as much effort, dedication, and BELIEF into the FF franchise as Sony does for Spider-Man, and Warner does for Batman...

But doing great on what? that 90 second teaser....I guess I'm just one that is not wanting to make a general statement about the direction of the movie as "its going great"...SS "looks" great. Thats about as far as I'm willing to go......I'm going to continue to categorize myself as "waiting", neither positive or negative, just "waiting"...

 So true. They've never had a clue what a great thing they've got.

:ff: :csad: Hope I'm proven wrong on June 15th.

I am basing my opinion on what little I have seen, read, and heard so far. And everything I have seen, heard, or read is very positive. :woot:

Rise of the SS will be just fine. The first film showed the studio the fans were here and that the movie will make money. Now they're going all out. Whether or not Galactus shows up in his full form is up to the studio and if they can feasibly get him in there and it'll look good and not like Mega Maid...they'll do it. If it makes more sense and makes him more ominous to just have him as a presence for now I'm cool with that. I'd rather they just have where we see the SS through the eyes of Galactus in this film and maybe show his reflection and hear his voice. Save the big reveal for another film when they know 100% for sure it'll be done right. Cause if they do it now and screw it up how can they just totally change his look?

All i know is Fox better tread real carefully and chose their press releases with some thought. Look what's happening with Ghost Rider; I've not been following that film's production as carefully, but apparently the director, Mark Steven Johnson, alluded to fans that the villain Blackheart would be appearing in his true demonic form, and that didnt happen.

Now fans are turning on that film like a pack of snarling wolves.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa....I read on the GR boards that we'd see Blackheart in his true form, he didn't allude to it either, he straight out said we'd see it....in MSJ post....and it doesn't happen?

....now I'm just pissed right off...and I haven't seen the movie yet.

I don't think we're gonna see as big a cop-out as the "Sentinel" in X3.
A quick glimpse of Galactus like the Ultimate Alliance clip we've all seen, would be fine provided it's up to snuff.
I'm pretty sure they can manage 5-10 seconds of top notch CGI by June 15th.

That would be great but once they show him, they're committed to that look for any sequels. The Ultimate Alliance final clip is the PERFECT Galactus.

We were promised full Phoenix effects in X3 as well as Sentinels. Even though I enjoyed X3, it wasn't necessary to tease fans like that. I'll believe Galactus showing up when I see it.

Blackheart transforms slightly in to something but remains mostly human. Blackheart's appearence is the very last thing wrong with that movie. Fans aren't PO'ed because of Blackheart's look. They're mad at the fact that the Ghost Rider movie did very little right.

I trust Tom Rothman about as much as I would trust Michael Jackson to take care of my little cousin. TR is a big lying POS and buttered up his comments to fans of the upcoming X3 back then. I take his words as a grain of sand.

You know what's stupid?
When they say, "Yes, he will appear and the fans will not be disappointed."

Hahaha, absurd.
Many fans will be disappointed.

or perhaps he's working his way through the buffet of planets the Surfer signaled from in the past.

Very good point its quite logical to think that SS sets up like a smorgasbord of planets. It makes sense that Galactus would have regular meal times like many people. I imagine someone with his appetite would be really put out by missing a scheduled meal.

Nevertheless for the purposes of the movie I would imagine that Galactus would skip a planet or two to get to the verdant human filled (tastes like chicken) planet that is the earth.

If we can look past our impending doom we really should be flattered that Galactus wants to eat us.

Maybe Sue Storm could put a massive force field around the Earth and make it invisible. :)

That he did!! Don't believe a word this guy says! Galactus will probably just appear as a shadowy outline, behind some smoke!:whatever:

I see you are still bitter about that sentinel in X3. Yes that was a raw deal.

I think it was ultimatefan who said that the devil never tells the truth.

Well we have Rothman on film people, on film.

Now at last the truth can be known.

Can Rothman possibly be telling the truth.

The answer to that will reveal to all his true identity once and for all.

LOL

How could Ioan NOT know if Galactus was in the film? He's read the script. and if the Ff don't encounter Galactus, he might as well not be in the film.

The Cast of POTC where never told Balbossa was going to show up in the end. :)

The one thing I wonder is how Doom gets defeated once he has the Surfer's powers. In the comics, Reed programs his ship to take him out to space where he then hits the barrier set by Galactus, causing Doom to lose his power.

If Doom stole the power before Galactus ever came to Earth how is he defeated???

He also said that we'd see Sentinels in X3 didn't he?

And they were. Well, one was. :whatever: So he needed to change it from the plural form to the singular one...but it would be unfair to say he lied. We did have a Sentinel in X3.

No offense to Ioan, but he didn't even know if Galactus had a physical form. :whatever: That tells me that Ioan wouldn't know what he looked like if Galactus was standing right in front of his face...and you guys want to put your stock in believing what he says about the character's appearance in this film?

I think not. :o Galactus may not be fully shown in this film, but give me another credible source...perhaps someone like Tim Story, Payne, one of the SFX guys, or....even Thom Rothman before one of the actors.

Besides, if Galactus is being done via CGI and only has interraction with the film's other predominately-CGI character (Silver Surfer) why would one of the actors be necessarily know about it? It wouldn't affect them at all.

I'll put it this way- when REAL MOVIES are made, a screenplay is written that completely explains the story, presents all the dialogue, and describes all the characters, their relationships and interaction.

If Galactus plays any significant role in this film, then Ioan, playing the male lead role should know about it. If he doesn't, then Galactus plays no meaningful role, which means that as far as I'm concerned he's not in the film. This flash or whatever of Galactus that folks here keep mentioning is nothing. It's as pointless as an actress' nipple slip as she puts on a robe.
Moreover, if Story et al had done any design work, CG tests or whatever with Galactus, why wouldn't Ioan know anything about it? Not even having seen a sketch? it makes no sense.

That's another point. The good thing about FF #57-60 is that the story doesn't result in the Surfer's power being defeated. Doom is just outsmarted by Reed. Minus the barrier, the Surfer's power will have to be actually beaten. Unless they use the old tried and true- Doom's human body can't handle the power cosmic and he has to release it.

I think that may depend upon the director. Some actors only get a chance to see their scenes and not the overall script. Things are giving to them on a need to know basis. Not saying this is the case but I have heard actors talk and not know what other scenes were in a movie they were in until they saw the whole thing. Galactus may not have any physical interaction with any of the characters other than the SS and it may be a scene that is not in the main script but an additional scene that they have written that has not been made available to the cast.

That's only if an actor is in one or two scenes. Not the case with Ioan. No director would disrespect his main actors by handing them a piecemeal script. Actors playing big parts need to see not only their scenes but the other scenes so as to have the proper perspective on the overall story, which will help them build on their character.

And what you're describing about Galactus is what I've been addressing- which is an insignificant cameo appearance in the film. Galactus' importance is in the threat he represents. I doubt they'll spend the money simply to show him pointing the Surfer toward Earth or whatever.
