Rumours that “Lost” favourite Josh Holloway might be still on FOX’s radar to play a possible ‘Gambit’ – a character fans have long wanted to see in the series for quite some time now – may have been confirmed this past weekend.

Talking to IESB, “X-Men” series producer Lauren Schuler Donner mentioned that model *** actor Holloway – who plays Sawyer on the hit TV series - is someone that she’d love to see in the role of the comic-book mutant. (Holloway actually near signed up to play the part last year).

“Remember in “Lost”? The guy, what's his name, there was a guy in there that was the perfect Gambit, the guy with the straight hair, good-looking, the bad boy…Sawyer, Sawyer”, she said......

Yeah, he used to be a favorite in the Gambit threads. I've always thought that he was too old for the role. It's still nice to see that they're still tossing up ideas for possible future X-Men sequels/films..

She gave the usual line about X4 the possibility of a fourth X-Men movie:

Donner: "I hope so, I think if we can work out the economics of it, absolutely. Certainly there are tons of stories. There is 40 years worth of stories. I’ve always wanted to do Days of Future Past and there are just really a lot of stories yet to be told. I wouldn’t rule anything out."

The economics are key, and getting the cast resigned. Any of the actors who need to be resigned are going to want huge pay raises and a piece of the profits.

By talking about Gambit and Holloway, Donner is letting them know they can be replaced. So, the cast either resigns within their budget or they start exploring what other characters they can bring to the big screen.

Bringing in someone like Josh Holloway would be a good move. He has a following from Lost, but he's not that recognizable. And Sawyer is essentially Gambit, so you know he'd be great at that type of role. Women go crazy over him. Gambit is an easy enough character to do special effects for, so it's not going to increase the budget.

Gambit in an X-Men 4 would be swell...

...If X-Men 4 were done right, and not just done as an excuse to bring in more characters while replacing Wolverine, Storm, etc...

I think it'd be rather hard without some of the core cast, like Jean, Cyclops, and Xavier.

Bringing them back will be a tight rope walk. Jean SHOULDN'T come back, period.

As much as I wanna see Gambit, I just really wish that Shuler Donner and all these other producers would just let the X-Men series rest with dignity.

Having both Gambit and Wolverine in the same movie would not work.They both have the same type of personality,and Gambit would not be given justice by being in Wolverine's shadow.

X4 should focus on the younger X-Men members(Colossus,Iceman,Shadowcat,Angel),but they need a character that has that Wolverine personality.

So you either have Wolverine do it,or you have Gambit do it.And the best move is to have Gambit play the part.He is a brand new mutant that will give moviegoers a breath of fresh air,but at the same time he will give us that familiar Wolverine attitude that we love.

And Beast is an excellent replacement for Professor Xavier as a leader/father figure type.

Plus Wolverine fans will still get to see Wolverine in his spinoff movie,that could even have sequels from it.

Could you picture Gambit saying to someone,have you ever played 52 pickup,and then he throws all of the cards at them.

I agree. They may seem same to some people but they are NOT. Plus, lets not forget that the portrayal of the characters in the movies is different from the comics. It's how they are going to present both of them to us.

That's why we need a good boy among the movies male x-men to keep the balance(Cyclops, Beast,etc).

About Holloway, i like him a Sawyer, but we need a younger actor, either they involve him with Rogue in movies or not. Jackman can keep playing Wolverine even if he is to be around 40 too, but i wouldnt like to see an older that 26-27 year old Gambit and I dont think that Sawyer can get 10-15 years younger than he is, no matter the special effects. Which means automatically that people will not see 2 same characters in the movie if age difference between the two of them is obvious. Age is a factor that movie makers should take into real consideration, bacause it is definite that Jackman will be in X4, but for Gambit we know we cannot be certain till movie is released.

Another argument against Holloway as Gambit is that people will call him Sawyer and not Gambit. I would like people to be introduced to Gambit, not to "Sawyer of the X-Men". I dont think that anyone who is not a comic fan will distinguish between them.

God, this appears to becoming true. Brazilian MSN and lots of brazilian cinema sites started to spread the word that Holloway might play Gambit in a future X4...

Sorry guys, I was hoping they would keep Gambit off the film......if they do go with Remy I hope the actor is young and they don't try to do to much with his powers. Keep it simple and let him talk very smooth and charge up some cards.
