X-Men spinoffs:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine: Sabretooth, Gambit, Deadpool, Emma Frost, Scott, Xavier
Wolverine: Jean Grey (showed in the trailers to sell), Xavier, Magneto
Deadpool: Colossus
Logan: Xavier, X-23
New Mutants: Possibly Xavier and Storm.
THANK YOU.

Its just another case of GuestStar being against fan suggestions for some reason. Going by precedent it is likely that there will be a secondary X-Men character. The evidence is there.

And I forgot Deadpool 2: Cable, Domino and Colossus again. (Maybe more?)

And Cannonball was originally meant to be in the first movie, being replaced later by Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

So no, Colossus wasn't included as a lack of faith in the Deadpool movie. And let's not kid ourselves, his inclusion sure wasn't what got people into theaters.

And somehow I doubt Fox thought Colossus would add any potential revenue either.

I have no issue with a character being a support in this. It's what I want and hope for and I'm sure will happen. I just want it to make sense story wise and also feel natural. But that's why Rogue is the character that makes the most sense. There's no other character that could work better as a back up to Gambit. And also they are such a beloved couple. It's a shame it hasn't happened yet. I just hope that they don't recast Rogue. Anna can do the Rogue that we all want they just haven't given her a shot yet. Her and Tatum are close in age and would work well off of each other and no natter what she's still an Academy Award winner and a big part of the X-Men franchise. It's easy to go and recast Colossus because he isn't as well known.

If the creative team decide to add other mutants organically to the story then it makes sense but as I said if there is any pressure to add X-Men for marketing appeal then yeah that could be considered a lack of faith in gambit as a solo character.

Also talking about other movies as if it's some kind of guideline that all solo movies need to follow probably isn't the case.

Basically "I'll only accept it if the filmmakers decide to do it.":cwink::whatever:

I hope you're also whining about Iron Man in Homecoming being lack of faith!

Secondary X-men Characters that should show up if Gambit is set in present: Rogue/Iceman. IF Gambit is set up in past: Storm/Jubilee

they should just stick to their script rather than shoehorn more characters in.
Also, it's probably sinister who ties everything up, so I'm guessing it's set in th epast.

after the recent on-screen deaths, you would guess they're putting characters from the original trilogy aside (rogue, iceman, shadowcat).

insurance policy*

If you throw Rogue into a Gambit solo, Paquin wouldn't cut it.

My only issue with this is that we have comic book movie climate with hardly any female solo heroes. Fox has the best female heroes and the way they treat them is by putting them into male heroes' movies?

Better here than nowhere at all, which for a character like Rogue may well be the case.

This is pretty much across the industry. Maybe WONDER WOMAN will help change this.

In my view, they want Gambit to stand alone. And they probably envisage him as the new Wolverine badass character.

I don't think they'd need a familiar female X-Men member, as Channing Tatum has the potential to carry it on his own. But I could see Rogue being brought into the sequel.

I'm assuming because the last 2 notable attempts ended in rot, one of which was produced by Fox.
Even, Kick-Ass 2 which put more focus on the breakout star of the first one, did worse critically and financially.
Female-led cb properties work wonderfully on tv though.

Back to X-Men, we're still talking about the franchise that made ladies the driving force of half the movies (one of whom is still griped about to this day). Wolverine seems to only work when he's got a female sidekick to play off of.
Both the flagship X-Men and the current cast of Deadpool have developed the most balanced roster of female:male stars.

As far as Gambit is concerned, I'm still waiting on this Gambit/Bella Donna buddy dramedy.

I believe the producers have literally said that he is intended to be the next Wolverine type character. This is also the reason they gave for his exclusion to date in the X-Men films, that he and Wolverine are too similar.

Because Fox just didn't view female characters like Storm and Rogue that important. I don't know how they could make a Storm or Rogue movie and persuade people to watch when they were underdeveloped. People would just want to see them in another movie but not their own movie. While I don't see a Jean Grey movie that doesn't feature Cyclops and the X-Men.

Anyway, they made an elektra movie last decade, and that possibly didn't encourage them to do more solo female films. While there's also the Catwoman movie which featured Fox's Storm actress.

FOX considered a Storm solo film along with Magneto and Wolverine solos. It didn't get very far along, in part because interest in Halle Berry in general cooled.

That reasoning doesn't really fly when Gambit's one and only cinematic appearance to date is in Wolverine's first solo movie.

Because Gambit is not Wolverine, it sounds like some suits coming up with marketing ploys. Why would i wanna see 3 Gambit solo movies when he's at his best when he's with the X-men?

Thing is when fans hear they are making a gambit movie the first thing they think is that they are giving him a solo just so they can then put him in an X-Men movie for his next appearance so it would be like a mini avengers type event where you see a character in a solo before putting him in a team movie.

BUT... even if Gambit is not logan it doesn't change the fact that FOX are probably hoping for the same recognition in his solo movie that could possibly lead to more solo movies depending oh how the movie turns out which actually could be possible.

Exactly. A new trilogy of Gambit and the X-Men over a Gambit trilogy would excite me more. They would probably at least use Rogue, Iceman, Kitty in A Gambit/X-Men trilogy instead of just not using them.

While I think there's a chance he shows up in X-FORCE, this is their loner character now. We probably won't see him with the X-Men anytime soon.
