Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 3

So long as the product gets a good writer and director attached, that's fine since sounds like Tatum is still involved. While it's unfortunate that it may be pushed back and has been in development for so long, if it takes its time and now has Logan and Deadpool to thank for the reworking, all the better.

Though one wonders what the result would have been without Logan and Deadpool's influence.

I would've still been all in IF Doug Liman stuck around.
Now it's just "I'll believe it when I see it."

Snider canned Liman once she took over Fox. They've had beef since Bourne Identity since that shoot went out of control under Liman.

its pretty clear the script hasnt been right since day 1. My question who has been the official writer/writers until now. Are they talented or just friend of a friend? did it have Kinberg retouchs? these are the real questions lol

The only known people on the script are Chris Claremont, Chan's producing partner and writer, Reid Carolin (who wrote Magic Mike, so he's no slouch) and Joshua Zetumer.

so a friend of the star
:sly:

I would love to read Claremont's script/treatment. IIRC it got rave reviews from sites that have written the franchise off in the past.

From Devin Faraci of all people, who said the Gambit script was great. But if the budget was too big, then I can understand sorta downsizing the film as well and sticking to what's been to proven to work as of late.

Yea the larger budget is really just asking for it lol

So in the middle of a Straits Times' interview, Tatum had a bit to say about his interest in the character of Gambit.

http://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/entertainment/enough-nudity-please

He is set to co-produce a malefocused sequel to the supernatural comedy Ghostbusters reboot (2016) and is developing a superhero movie based on the X-Men character Gambit, who is incredibly skilled in card-throwing, handto-hand combat and the use of a bo staff.

Tatum's connection to the character stretches back to a moment in his childhood, when he was living in Mississippi.

"There wasn't a comic store, but the cartoon was on TV and he was this cool Cajun guy," Tatum recalls.

"And he was the easiest person to play as a kid because you could just unscrew the broom handle, get a pack of cards and wrap a bandana around your head. We had a lot of fun throwing cards and trying to take our friends' eyes out across the living room."

His affection for the character comes through.

"He is just cool, man. He is one of the few superheroes that has an actual culture to him. He doesn't talk like a vanilla American. He is from a specific geo-location, New Orleans, which is a really specific thing."

At this point Fox is juggling the X-Men, Deadpool & X-Force and New Mutants. Gambit has already lost in the mix. Maybe after the 2010s?

Maybe they'll wise up and just include him in a team movie. Ok not maybe but hopefully.

They could introduce him first in another movie and see how the character works, then decide if it's worth to move on with a solo movie or not.

I think they decided ages ago that they would make a solo with him.

I imagine this is not a sign of fox having seconds thoughts but more just sitting him on the shelve till all the pieces are put together.

Not when the X-Men are stuck in the past comprising of actors younger than Channing.

I can't believe we are seeing Halle/Channing in another fox film this year before a X-Men film... Lol.

They did that in Origins because apparently a X4 film would have cost more when majority of X3's characters were already killed and didn't require to return.:o

A rumor from Splash Report. Take with a grain of salt however, but these are the guys who reported JL's reshoots etc. Also sounds like the old script considering the Mardi Gras mention.

They also had some pretty accurate screenplay previews/reviews back in the day on Latino-Review (which, let's not forget, was the website that broke Heath Ledger's casting as the Joker).

I trust 'em.

i like this report.i had feeling sinister would be here.

one reason for rewrites could be to drop dani moonstar and the blue mutant

That set up, or a variation of it, could actually work. Have Mr. Sinister there and some minor appearances of other characters like in Deadpool. I don't really want Mr. Sinister to be 'permanently defeated' in a Gambit movie though.

kinberg has hinted they wanted sinister to be all purpose villain in series
moving forward.really like what i read here.hopefully some elements remain that they are working on.the thieves and assassins guilds are great fadder for gambit's first film.

Nightcrawler's useful for sneaking around,

but something tells me it's not authentic...

seems legit to me, but it's clearly the josh zetumer script, which was scrapped
