Oh you really don't like him lol.

What did you think of Taylor Kitsch?

Honestly, Tatum at least seems interested in a cajun accent, which I appreciate over Kitsch in this role. Kitsch has the better body type for Gambit, though, so I get the superficial criticism, but I don't think he played Gambit right at all.

The accent is pretty important for Gambit, yeah.

Tatum just seems so wooden to me, like he's got no feeling. :(

Wait, so Channing Tatum - who has been working to get Gambit onto the silver screen for awhile now despite a myriad of setbacks, whose family is from New Orleans, who unlike Ryan Reynolds, was actually into the X-Men as a kid - is not a guy who is into the material enough? You don’t have to like the guy, but come on now. Let’s not be ridiculous. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick didn’t know anything about DP until Ryan sought them out too.

The idea that you have to have been a fan as a kid among other things to know anything about these characters or be dedicated is ridiculous.

you don't have to be a fan as a kid. fassbender nailed magneto but it was not just a vague sense of the character and a script that helped him do it.

TK's Gambit was too tame for my taste but he looks more like Remy than Tatum. Recast this role and put him in a team movie already, Fox! It's not rocket science.

they should let the fans pick the next gambit via an online poll

I'd like to see him introed in a team movie.

Yeah, I'd much rather they just introduce him in a team movie as well.

he'd probably be wasted in a team movie, so I preffer his own movie, then to join the team and we will already know him very well without the need to explain who he is and all of that. The general audience will be much more attached to him too, so its a win situation.

Gambit would be better off in a team movie. See how popular he really is. At the end of the day if a character can't support a solo comic... why should they get a solo film right off the bat?

The potential is there. But we need a RDJ or Reynolds situation where the actor comes in and makes the character an instant icon.

comic sales have nothing to do with a movie becoming a hit. I mean, how many original movies there are? not everything comes from a source, and if new characters can become a hit movie, Gambit has more than enought elements to become a movie star.

The movie has to be really good, tho. So it all depends on the script, director and the actor being great in the role.

neither tatum nor kitsch are gambit material for me, team movie debut would be safe.

Only reasons I have been supporting a solo is because of the change of scenery and intro to a never before seen cast of characters.

Chalk this up to the rumor mill, but according to Splash Report, Daniel Craig may be in talks to play Mr. Sinister. All according to 'sources,' says the article. Make of that what you will.

And in case you don't want to click the link, here's the important part:

There are "conversations" about locking up Daniel Craig to be Nathaniel Essex, AKA Mr. Sinister, in Gambit and also in other X-Men Movies.

Holy cow, that's an awesome casting conversation if true. I hope it happens. (But won't get my hopes up, like Pitt for Cable)

It's also very possible that Chan would reach out to former co-stars and creative to bring into the fold for Gambit. Similar to Hugh and Mangold/Schreiber. Or Ryan and Julian Dennison it seems.

Isn't that everybody wants since X2.

But of course, Fox listened and introduced him in a Wolverine prequel and now being saved for a Gambit film that might happen... Or not.:o

Damn, that would actually get me excited for this flick.

Yeah, guess so. Shame as his debut could have been a big thing in an X3 or 4.

If there was an X4, he would have been there. The main reason why Gambit was in Origins is to introduce a fan favorite (that wasn't in the previous films) in the new film and they went with Gambit despite Gambit having no role in Logan's comic book origin story. Also they shoe horned the young X-Men that they were supposed to make until Singer scrapped it.

Anyway, it wasn't an exciting time for people wanting a X4. X-Men team film is just more interesting than a Wolverine film. It really sucked that Fox limited the ot cast/setting in favor to do cheaper films that weren't even as an exciting as the Ot. And even at the box office, they weren't as successful as the original trilogy.

Just an overall bad plan. If they'd stuck to the traditional sequel route and just kept slowly introducing new characters and maintaining a rotating roster to keep things manageable (maybe eventually having 2 teams), who knows how big this franchise could be now. That period after X2 and leading up to X3 is when the potential was really there and many people were ready to become lifelong fans.

Also the MCU effect wasn't in full effect yet. They were making 1 movie at a time and was more comfortable in making cheaper films. Though even with the MCU effect, they only played their card
with Dofp (cross over film) and Deadpool in terms of planning. While Logan is a 1 off that might not even get referenced in the future. Like it boggles me that First Class cast is getting their 4th film in 8 years when they are hardly the crowd's favorite based from the box office performance, while the Ot cast had to wait 8 years to reunite together in another X-Men film and hasn't been brought back when there could easily cross over with Deadpool/X-Force but no there's no plan and Xavier/Logan/and the others except for Colossus are mia in the present.
