I don't know where it was said, but Gambit can't charge living things, like a person or an animal. He charged up part of Logan's face in Ultimate once, but it wasn't the flesh, only the metal he charged.this actually brings up a question.
if gambit can charge up something's kinetic energy, could he charge up quicksilver to make him run quicker?
Yeah, but then at that time he was too powerful and sorta boring. He shouldn't be able to do things like time travel or heal himself. I like plain old, semi-powered Gambit myself.Fully powered Gambit could charge living matter.

Seeing how grounded so much of the effects in the previous X-Men films have been, I really can't imagine Gambit's charging showing any color at all (at least not pink, red or purple). It depends on how Hood and his team is sticking with the realism that Singer and his team first established in X1.

Read the very first post.Cyclops shot red from his eyes. Why can't Gambit charge be red or pink or purple???![]()

I'd honestly just be okay with the items smoking. I'm boring, what can I say?![]()
Here's my idea again about what a1ant said (if anyone's too lazy to read the first post)
If optic blasts were a naturally occurring reaction to which there was a scientific reference behind it, then the filmmakers would have some justification for changing it to something natural and real. Since optic blasts only exist in the comics and they are red, it's the only point of reference they had. With Gambit on the other hand, as far as I know, kinetic energy exists in real life as resulting by various things, such as fire or heat. It's similar as to why Magneto doesn't emit any yellow or blue haze when he's moving things in the movie, because we know that when things are magnetized and being levitated, we see that there's nothing we can see visually by the naked eye.

But I still want to see the red/pink/purple.
This works too, actually. Smoking and a sizzling or sparking noise.
I like to think of it as the sound of flaming arrows being shot.

Canemacar said:Since it's a movie, you can bet the studio isn't going to pass up an opportunity for visual effects. When Gambit charges something, there's probably going to be an other worldly glow(similar to the first cover posted in the thread) added via CGI. They'll probably change it's color from magenta to purple or red though.
Assuming Gambit uses them, even the playing cards themselves will probably be CGI, so you may be right. Haha, I don't know if anyone has ever tried to throw a playing card Gambit-style, but they definitely don't move like that in real life... so I'm sure visual effects will be vital even for the most basic things regarding Gambit's power displays.
1: Of course they're going to use cards; it's the character's trademark. Like Wolvie with his claws.
2: Throwing cards is easy; you have to put a little spin on them. You can get a good 20 feet easy; the world record being 200 feet or so.
