The Avengers is a good team so if they do a movie about them you need a world class threat not some guy in a costume. How about Loki trying to discredit Thor by creating a situation similar to Ultimates 2 except he focuses his efforts on thor and the people around him. He attacks the heroes financially, emotionally, and tactically only as long as Thor is around. Eventually revoking any kind of security clearance to deal with Loki ultimate menace....fear He invokes humanities fears to where they irrationally hate mutants, powered humans , and mutates to the point regular people are capturing an executing them. The Avengers are put together to counter this massacre only to discover it is coming to a single source Loki. The climax o the film involves finding Loki and have Thor make a deal with him to relinquish godhood an allow Loki or his forces to kill Thor. The Avengers defeat Loki and his Machinations by finding the legendary Norn stones make contact with Odin or Someone in charge of Thor's realm and expose Loki to them an send him to Thor's world for his deceptions. thor is given his powers back humanity returns to itself. The aftermath leaves a feeling of fear and mistrust at the devstation and damages only the avengers can fix. The Avengers finnally inderstand thor is a god not a mutant that is key Humanity and even the Avengers think he's crazy until the climax of the film when local media catch a gate to Vallhala open up. The end of the movie will also solidify the team to counter threats that above any of their abilities.
