Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series

Goes straight in near the top of my most anticipated list.

I hope TT isn't handling too many games. Between this, Fables, Borderlands and of course Walking Dead, that's a lot of stuff on their plates and they were notoriously late with pumping out TWD episodes according to their original release schedule.

They made all kinds of profit with The Walking Dead. I think they've probably expanded to handle the extra workload.

I'm excited for this, but I gotta say, I'd like to see Telltale do an original game, right than an adaptation.

I hope they focus on getting this and Wolf Among Us done before the Borderlands thing.

And I hope for the Borderlands one first :p

My concern with this one is breaking away from the source material. The weakest part of The Walking Dead was when you interacted with Glenn, when Lilly's story came to an abrupt halt with no real conclusion and the player's choices not mattering (despite the first three episodes being entirely centered around Lilly and Kenny's power struggle and Lee's role in that), etc. The weakest part was when it tried to tie itself into the source material. The Walking Dead doesn't need to be tied in and therefore it was weaker when it did (because everything was pre-determined in that regard and the best part of Telltale games is the player's choice).

I don't think we will have that luxury in A Game of Thrones. The Walking Dead can be separated from the comic/show. The world is vast, individual characters don't matter, etc. In A Game of Thrones, Westeros is intricately tied together. Which means we will either be thrown into the main part of the world and interact with characters whose fates are already pre-determined by the canon or be a minor player in some backwater region of Westeros where the player is free to make decisions but it may feel underwhelming as a result.

It's a good point. This could be harder than Walking Dead for them to give us real choice if they go with the main GoT characters and story.

Haha.

Great it's confirmed. Go Martell or go bust.

4 games is still a lot. I think it would be more efficient to expand a team to work on all the episodes of 1 series before moving on to the next. Spreading themselves between so many titles doesn't seem like a good idea. At the very least, I don't think these two new projects should have been announced so early, when they've only released one episode out of presumably 20 between all

I don't see why they can't make their game non canon. It can be based off the GoT but at the same time be its own thing set in its own universe

I think the most casual casuals prefer to play as the main characters in the main story but regular gamers will be happy with something different. Either would be good for me and nothing in the game would be canon really. The TV show is based on the books which are the canon source. Anything that happens in the TV show is obviously canon for the TV show but doesn't affect the ultimate source and the game will likely affect neither. Kind of like how Star Wars Extended Universe material won't affect the new SW films.

Is this based on the TV show? Hopefully they focus on other stories going on in Westeros and don't have you playing as Daenerys or Tyrion.

Yep as it's a partnership with HBO, it'll most likely be the same as TWD where you don't play the main characters, as it gives more breathing room and not be restricted to follow down a predetermined path.

Excited for this! Hopefully it deals with the war that put Robert on the throne or the dragon family conquering westeros. I'd be less interested in seeing what's currently going on in the show from a different perspective.

Yeah, I'd be down to see Robert take the throne. Could be interesting to see what TT does.

The war of the conquest would be cool. Wishful thinking but man oh man I'd love to have one during that period but focusing on the House Martell.

Unbowed. Unbent. Unbroken.

But I doubt they will go back to the time of Aegon the Conqueror. I think it will stay in the time frame of ASOIAF.

Shame to limit to the period of the books considering the rich lore but from a business perspective it makes sense.

I really hope this is amazing enough to get more than one season so that multiple time periods/storylines can be covered.
