I love the way they edited that Arya montage. That was a sublime sequence.

it was the first time Arya has been interesting since she left Tywin :o

If not, I doubt she'll be going to the North to kill Jon. She'll probably end up killing Walder Frey or someone else responsible for her mother or fathers death.

It was very interesting to learn that the Faceless Men we're interested in Arya's kill list and wanted to hear it. All her targets would cause political ramifications in Westeros and they just might let her have her wish.

In the books, there's a good theory that the Blackfyres have hired the Faceless men, so perhaps in the tv show it will be revealed that Varys/Pro-Daenerys team wants to help Daenerys conquer Westeros.

Or they're simply an independent organisation, we haven't seen them with any "funny money".

I still think she's playing them to get what she wants.
Nah, she's going to turn on the Faceless men...
That's what I said in my review of Ep03. It's what I hope for anyway. :woot:

Question to y'all, why do you think a little girl can outsmart a legendary and famous Assassin's League who have practiced their art of deception for centuries and decades?

I think it is far more likely, that the Faceless Men KNOW that Arya is piss poor at her deception and are utilizing her to achieve their end goals.

I've said it before, Jaqen knows she's playing them false. Not once did I say she out smarted them.

"for centuries and decades"

If she's playing them, then I'd fear for where Arya will end up by the end.

Even if she contributes to defeating the WW in her own way, she will end up dead, which could play into that whole "bittersweet" ending.

There was a really sound theory that the Blackfyres have hired the Faceless men to murder Bloodraven, which is why in the books Jaqen is in Oldtown to get a glass candle.

The main "evidence" for this theory is that Jaqen, Rorge and Biter we're heading North. Roge & Biter actively searched for Arya, but then the glass candles got activated and Jaqen went there and the most important one: Faceless Men have been paid money that Arya Stark and few others couldn't recognize, the gold coins showing a king they don't recognize = traitor money.

Arya being a telepath would also probably give her some "mental resistance" againts Bloodraven's dream invasions.

....we're talking about the show. lol

Ive never got the impression Arya is playing the assassins. Ive never even considered that. What makes some of yall think she intends to betray the assassins?

We'll she hasn't progressed in her training whatsoever and she is consumed by her list.

Not betray them. Just get them to trust her enough so she gets full training so she can't go on about her list.

YMMV

Arya's getting deeper into the Faceless Men's training program, as evidenced by the last episode. She hasn't embraced the mindset, but she's getting the tricks of the trade. By her standards, I'd call it progress. By theirs? I'd say it isn't progress.

I don't think he watches any episodes.

Illyn Payne wasn't on her list... the **** is that about

She's getting better at that game which is part of the training -a good assassin knows how to deceive and play roles to get into position!

And unless the Faceless dudes are Professor X level telepaths, I have confidence in her ability to eventually outwit them. Soon I hope!

First she's locked out and has to go live on the street in Braavos, then she sweeps floors continuously, then some girl kicks her ass regularly, then she has to wash corpses, then she's blinded, lives like a beggar and gets her ass kicked some more. Call it "training" or whatever but it's essentially mental and physical abuse and I hope she kills them and leaves.

As long as Needle is hidden, she is Arya Stark.

Nothing worth doing's easy. I'd like to see her struggle to maintain her identity and keep it masked from her teachers. Or, if Jaqen is aware that she is still Arya Stark, find a way to turn her assassin's skills against him when push comes to shove.

What kind of significance will the War of Five Kings play and mummers have for the show? We know Arya will be spending some time with them.

...on a purely random note, I finished examining Patchface's prophecies in the books. They are fascinating, to say at the least. While I am excited to see Stannis [hopefully] smash the Boltons in the books, I am impatient to see how the business with Shireen's favorite fool pays off, especially since Mel is terrified of him.

Have you not ever seen how military special forces are trained. It makes Arya's ordeal look like a cake walk. You dont get to become the ultimate specialized killing machine by being coddled.

I didn't suggest that she should be "coddled". And I wouldn't compare her experiences like begging in the street and washing corpses to modern military training either.

But you asked for a motive for betrayal and turning the tables and I provided it. She's a vindictive, adolescent girl with a scorecard and I don't think she appreciates the welts she's gotten from the other girl or much else that she's endured there.

I didn't think washing them was that far removed from a cadaver dissection.
