I always assumed he was but there were those who said no, so I guess I don't really know. He seemed pretty screwed to me.
It hasn't been explicitly revealed, but [BLACKOUT]in the books, there were large hints that the gravedigger at the monastery Brienne visits is the Hound, particularly since the Hound's horse Stranger was stabled there, and the head monk had intimate knowledge of the Hound's supposed "last moments". A big theory is that the Hound has been reborn in the Faith of the Seven, and will actually be the Faith's champion in Cersei's upcoming trial by combat.[/BLACKOUT]

Other than the lack of LS, it was my favorite finale of the series.

What did they leave out? I forgot already.....

[BLACKOUT]Jaime revealing that Tysha (Tyrion's first wife) was not a ****e, but that Tywin forced Jaime to tell Tyrion that lie. Tysha was a normal girl who loved Tyrion. It's actually Tyrion's breaking point that causes him to kill Tywin in the books.[/BLACKOUT]

I didn't calm my expectations enough, and that not ending with [BLACKOUT]LS[/BLACKOUT] is a major major downer for me. It would have killed the dragons, and the zombie army and especially Mhysa. It didn't even happen and it's *still* my favourite ending.

The rest was all good, but I hope that isn't the last we see of The Hound. Rory killed it when he was begging.

The Mountain = Robert Strong confirmed, right?

There are those that speculate that [BLACKOUT]The Hound is a grave digger that shows up with LS's gang. There's a man described as digging graves that is huge. And since that whole bunch also happened upon the Hound before he died (per the Red Priest guy) some speculate they actually nursed him back to health and he stayed with them. And I think GRRM has indicated the "Clegane Bowl" will still happen. [/BLACKOUT]

How awesome was that LS reveal!

She's been cut from the show. That's all there is to it.
Is Jon now the LC?

The way I see it, they want something big for early next season, so no LS. Also, I think there is a good chance that they didn't want to introduce her without her doing anything for awhile. She won't be needed until later next season. Also this season seems to have ended with a lot of wins for the "good guys", they didn't want to waste it all just yet.

I can't see them cutting her after they already did Beric Dondarrion. They already established it.

Not sure about that. They very well may just be saving her for next season. This season was already evidence that they're doing all they can to slow down and draw things out. Though, to be honest, I'm not sure what her point is in the books yet.

Any who, while that was a pretty solid finale...was anyone else kind of disappointed? Both because of the lack of a certain character we expected to show up, and for me...Shae.

Having read the book, I knew what her fate was going to be. But book Shae was a radically different character. She wasn't very smart, she was petulant, she was greedy, and all in all, you weren't surprised in the least when she betrayed Tyrion at his trial and did the nasty with Tywin. However, they set show Shae up as a much more intelligent and rounded character. And I kept waiting for them to slightly change the way she was killed in the show, because, honestly, I just didn't buy that Shae was stupid enough to think that Tyrion really didn't want her, and I didn't buy that she was vindictive enough to actually try and get him killed because of it. It just didn't feel right to me, not with the way they built her character.

It was still acted wonderfully by Dinklage, but it just didn't sit right with me. And also, I was surprised they killed off Jojen. Another character that is still alive in the books.

It was a bit disappointing for me, because it was a great collection of individually shocking and awesome scenes and fights, but cohesively and as a whole it didn't really impact me much. And the ending kind of left me cold like last season's finale, instead of gripping my armchair waiting for the next season.

I guess Lena Headey trolled us with her [blackout]"Stone of Heart"[/blackout] instagram pic. :(

Anyone else felt that the Shae/Tyrion scene felt a bit too rushed? The Tyrion/Tywin scene rocked big time though.

I was a bit surprised by how the Jamie/Tyrion scene played out but I actually liked it. It played out more consistent with how they portrayed Jaime in the show if that makes sense.

In terms of Shae, I was saying the same thing.

And I liked the way they did the Jamie/Tyrion thing as well. The book verison wouldn't have fit, not with how they had Jamie's arc play out in this season. Book Jamie wasn't there for Joffrey's death, and he was honestly still unsure if Tyrion did it in the books.

That's what I mean. Hints and rumors, but nothing sure.

Yep.

What I liked is that Tyrion didn't say to Jaime (out of anger) that he killed Joffrey as well. It just fits with how things played out in the show for both characters.

Franken Mountain existing seems to indicate this is the case.

Yeah, they're most likely saving it for next season. They're very clearly trying to slow they're pace down as much as possible, as evidenced by some of the added storylines this season, and that's probably why they saved that introduction for later.

Yeah, I felt kind of the same. I think part of it was that I was pretty much 99% sure they would introduce a certain character and when they didn't I was really surprised, and a bit let down. On top of the fact that they also didn't introduce Coldholds, I was kinda bummed. I would have liked to see one of those two put in. Also, I was kind of put off that they killed Jojen Reed, since he's still alive. But his character really hasn't done anything in the books since they got to the Three Eyed Raven.

Yeah, given that they confirmed that particular fate for one character in the show, it seems pretty likely that
The Hound will be revealed to have survived.

Yup, thanks. I forget so many things. My old brain doesn't retain like you youngin's. You'd never know I've read the books through twice. :(

And now we have the standard "[BLACKOUT]if you didn't see them die, they didn't die[/BLACKOUT]" trope on top of that.

We'll I guess some of us here should have taken Lime for his word

Again with the bad memory, but didn't Jojen die later from a fever? Maybe they just didn't want to pay the actor for another season.

Alex Graves, the director of this Ep said that D&D wanted to end the season in a way that made it seem like it was a conclusion to the first half of the series. I guess they figured Stoneheart would be too much of a cliffhanger ? :(

My favourite thing about the nights Game of Thrones airs is the fact that the added web traffic crashes the Wiki of Ice and Fire. So many people are going to be heading there, and getting brick walled. So much frustration...

That was a great finale but sad we didn't get that one appearance we all expected. Can't wait till next season

Maybe. By saving it for next season, perhaps they'll do her up right and not rush.

She may not be needed at all and likely doesn't play a huge role in the endgame which could explain why D&D have cut her. Beric was introduced for other reasons and he still served a purpose even if they never introduce LS.

If anything, the pace is actually being sped up. They are just moving bits around to try and keep everything balanced.

Is Meera still alive? That is all that matters really. She is Bran girlfriend. :hrt:

So that's why I'm never able to get on there! Every Sunday there is something I want to look up, but it's always down. It never obscured that it was down because of traffic.

Well I'd be lying if I said that wasn't a little disappointing. I still say Stannis' rescue would have been more effective in the previous episode. And if we had gotten a certain someone in the screen time allotted to that instead, it would have been much more of a "holy s***" kind of finale, imo. But oh well, at least they didn't end it on the Daenerys scene, lol.
