Hahahaha oh man, I hope that was a joke cause it sure was funny.

the show got nominated for outstanding drama and Dinklage got nominated for supporting actor whats the issue?
the issue is that Sean Bean never gets the respect he deserves. the guy has been amazing in like every role and he's a no name

I couldn't comment on Glee, since I've never seen the show. I wouldn't discredit the performance of an actor/actress based on whether I've seen a show, or whether I would watch it. Is Glee even a drama? If not, moot point.

But Bean and Dinklage don't deserve nominations over the better portrayals in Game of Thrones. That was my point, I'll thank you for noticing.

Who else in GOT were better than Bean and Dinklage? I disagree with you & think both of them deserve a nomination. The fact that Bean didn't get one is a travesty.

I'd ignore his comments...It's really ridiculous.

Sean Bean not getting sominated is a major loss, and LOL WTF  at Dinklage not deserving a nomination.

Laughable stuff there. :lmao::facepalm::ikyn

He's not a no-man, he's just never the star in a big blockbuster.

and the Emmys (and show business to an extent) have always ignored the fantasy genre, regardless of quality

so the show itself getting recognized is a nice thing....and if I had to give an emmy to any one person in that cast it would be Peter Dinklage....he owns every scene he's in

It's be ignored doubly so when the real fantasy stuff starts showing up more then.

While Dinklage was good, I don't know how he qualifies for a supporting actor nomination. Tyrion is a main character.

I disagree...the way the series is structured there really is no MAIN character....and in TV, the Emmys aren't going to nominate a midget for a lead actor....just aint gonna happen

Just finished ASOS... wow! Can't wait to hear who they cast as Stannis!

Name three.

It really isn't, per the latter. Again, the power of their roles strangle the opportunity of the actors to do something truly magical. Sean Bean as Ned Stark is Sean Bean as Ned Stark, not Ned Stark alive on the screen. His portrayal of Boromir is a better performance, more real, less stilted, and more magic. His portrayal of Boromir is based on the strength of his acting; his portrayal of Ned Stark is based on the power of GRRM's writing and the directorial skill with which the adaptation was applied. Such is the case with Peter Dinklage as Tyrion, and to a much lesser degree Emilia Clarke as Dany and Kit Harrington as Jon.

I don't mean any of that to be condescending, for possibly the first time ever. But please, there is a difference between saying they're not the best and saying they weren't good. I am saying the former, not the latter.

As for the other request - who was better, in no particular order:
1. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau playing Jaime Lannister
2. Iain Glen playing Jorah Mormont
3. Aidan Gillen playing Petyr Baelish / Littlefinger
4. Richard Madden playing Robb Stark
5. Mark Addy playing Robert Baratheon
6. Harry Lloyd playing Viserys Targaryen

Each of them, regardless of screentime and big-name-status, brought a bunch of energy to their roles and, much more importantly, made the characters their own - something Bean and Dinklage could not do, as stated above - whether it be screen presence, invoking visceral reaction, or what have you.

I could see Aidan Gillen or Coster-Waldau getting future nods if the quality of the show holds up

Ned was a good guy, but that was just about all there was to him. A good guy in a crappy world.

Of the list I only really agree with Mark Addy and maybe Aidan Gillen. I don't agree that Sean Bean was Sean Bean as Stark and not Stark come to life, however. But you made your valid points so hey, its your opinion. Thanks for explaining it.

Yep, Ned couldn't survive in King's Landing. I don't have the book on hand, but the quote by Littlefinger where he says something like "You wear your honor like a suit of armor, thinking it protects when in reality it just weighs you down." That's Ned in a nutshell.

First, midget is an offensive term. Second, why not? I can see him getting the lead actor nomination next season since Tyrion has about 15 chapters in ACOK. The first 2 chapters I've read with him are great.

well boo ****ing hoo....so is n***** but I get called that at least once a month

It's hard to pick out a leading role in A Song of Ice and Fire, because there really isn't one. There are a number of POV characters, but very few main characters, and of those characters I have pegged as being integral to the overarching story, I wouldn't call any of them a primary main in a "leading role" fashion.

Leading roles in the visual medium are really that of a "face" role, though. That fit Sean Bean for Game of Thrones. We'll have to wait and see if anyone becomes the "face" of the adaptation of the second book.

I thought Ned was the "main" character of Game of Thrones. Most of the storylines related to him in some way and his death is the climax of the book which leads to everything in the later novels.

Doesn't make them acceptable.

Dany actually plays a growing person with the sensation that she learns and matures. Whereas Peter Dinklage plays the cocky wise-ass. Which is very much hyped because he's a midget. (I can say that, my best and oldest friend has achondroplasia). Sean Bean plays a stoic stubborn man. They both play it well but it doesn't qualify as award winning acting.

Joffrey is now known as the most hated person on television. This is due to great casting but also fantastic acting.
Arya has got the most subtle non-verbal acting of the show.
