Yeah, Matt went all "Mad King" and banned any discussion of spoilers.

I wouldn't consider it 'Mad King'-ish or that he's forbidden all spoilers - just ones pertaining to significant future events. Explaining a new character's background seems fine, if I'm not mistaken.
You've been around for the entire discussion and know the situation. Basically, spoiler discussion had gotten so prevalent and blatant to the point people were complaining and TV viewers were leaving the thread to avoid accidentally getting spoiled.
Some of the best things when reading A Song of Ice and Fire are the many surprising turns and shocking twists that occur in the story. Without the surprises, the story would be a lot less enjoyable. So, I think it's only fair that we try not to rob TV viewers of this experience.
I just got a mental image of Matt burning Boom alive like Ned's dad.
Game of Hype.

Not necessary, Boom has enough suffering in his life being a Cincinnati Bengals fan. So I shall simply delete the spoiler and ask him to read the announcement. Then next time I can burn him alive! All fear the Mad Mod!![]()
The Tyrells have nothing to gain by supporting Robb. The Riverlands put themselves in enough danger allying with them. The Reach borders the Westerlands, Crownlands, Stormlands, and Dorne and has no natural terrain to help defend them, it would be another Field of Fire if they allied with the Starks. They had little to gain from allying with Stannis because they know he despises them for the siege of Storm's End. Margaery is their meal ticket to power, they need her to marry someone in a position of power which was Renly and now Joffrey.
I liked Stannis early on because I found him interesting as you hear much about him in the first book. I didn't really like him until the climax of the third book and his plans in the fifth. He may be a hypocrite, but he is doing the right thing.
Storm's End is still held by men loyal to Stannis. Joffrey only pardoned the lords captured at Blackwater who asked of it.
Stannis had no way of courting them, Renly was very close to Loras and a prime husband for Margaery. They have a mutual dislike with Stannis, an alliance between the two was never really in the cards. The Tyrells only play for the winning side and never get their hands dirty. All Mace did during Robert's Rebellion was camp outside Storm's End for a year. All in all, Renly was smart to court them and Stannis was short-sighted to dismiss them.
Sheer Brilliance
I've gotta be in House Swanson.![]()

Probably a naked DaenerysI can only imagine what they're gawking at.....

Watching the finale was like watching an mtv music video. The amount of jumping around from character to character was ridiculous. This show is not meant to be crammed into ten episodes.
The problem isn't the number of episodes but that the show has Loads and Loads of Characters (particularly, main characters) to the point of absurdity. Because of this, each character can't have much screentime per episode.
