They're pulling the 1st season from dvd/blu-ray as well. It's weird how this just made the news now the dvds been out for a while and who really cares?!

They are trying to do the respectful thing, I for one think it's kinda silly but at the end of the day they just want to not offend people. Kinda makes you think though when they have that liability thing on DVDs that say "the opinions of the commentaries are that of the people blah blah blah NOT the studios!" they really don't have to go through all this but I suppose this is a smart road to travel, people may not have liked him but he was is a President.

Why is the media making a big deal about George Bush's head being put on a stake in season 1? They do realize it happened over a year ago and was a joke right?

I'm reminded of John Ritter's testicle popping out in an episode of Three's Company that wasn't discovered until someone freeze framed a Nick at Nite rerun decades after it had aired. Then someone has to do something about it, the media runs the story yada, yada, yada.

How many DVDs/BluRays are on the shelves or are in a warehouse? They're not going anywhere. If Fox can do a Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter movie, HBO can have a head that sorta looks like George W Bush on a stick.

Lol HBO overreact much. This ass kissing that companies do when they get caught for insignificant things really chaps my ass. I doubt Bush even knew or cared, and the head was dressed up and turned away from camera. I mean there isn't any actual proof accept the commentary and they could have said it was a joke and not actually a replica of his head. How is this worse than making Abraham Lincoln a vampire hunter? Double standards.

Oh well glad I've got the bluray and the episode in its original state. If anything all this did was ensure that it gets spread around and looked for more.

So going into the third (and fourth) season I wonder if they'll play up the fact that Dany had another brother and his importance in Westeros history. We've had a couple of off hand mentions in the first season but nothing really huge, I can't help but think that it'll seem like it comes from left field to non book fans when it does inevitably come up.

Given how many people over the years have talked about putting Bush's head on a spike, I don't see why folks are making such a fuss over GOT actually doing it.

Especially given that no one even noticed for a ****ing year.

Frankly, it was a dumb thing to do from the producers' standpoint. I despise Bush as a president. But as a former POTUS, I do feel like he deserves a modicum of respect as a symbol of this country. I can see why people would be upset. It doesn't offend me, but I won't write off those who are. The set designers and producers should be scorned. Not everything has to be a political statement. It was a dumb thing to do.

Why does it have to be a political statement? The media disrespected him for 8 years but they didn't offer apologies. It was an uncouth disrespectful piece of humor or a shortsighted decision. Those really are the only two logical reasons behind it. Considering that the head was disguised and indistiguishable without the commentary im gonna go with the later. Someone in the props department thought it would be funny and no one outside the shoot would know then Mr. Dumbass on the commentary blabbed. As for the media treating this molehill like a mountain, well those hypocritical bastards, they can go **** themselves. The only one who I care to hear give word about this is Bush and he is mum so the media should just craw back to their hole and come back with something relevant instead of this ridiculous excuse for news.

On one hand, I do have to question why they would use the prop head in the first place.

On the other, it was positioned in such a way that you would really have to be ridiculously eagle-eyed to spot that that was GWB..... "Oh, ****, that's what Bush's nose and mouth would look like if I were approaching him from a south-west direction. POLITICAL STATEMENT!!!"

And on the third hand (yes, I'm using three hands), the heads on that wall belonged to people going against Joffrey. Implying that GWB would go up against that little **** is probably the nicest thing anyone's said about him in years.
