Game of Thrones - HBO part 2 - Part 5

They are and aren't following the novels, for what it's worth. It's not a direct translation from written word to screen.

Regarding point 1: What was the proper pay off?

Regarding point 2: I never watched Lost. I have no idea what a "Lost-type approach" is.

I really wanted it to be Ned that gave Jamie his comeuppance for being such a ****. The way they played it throughout the season, even after the initial fight, suggested the two of them were going to go at it to the death.

When I say centric, I mean one episode that focuses solely on just the Lannister/Stark war, one that focuses solely on Jon and the Night Watch beyond the wall, one on Arya being held captive and so forth. Then bring it all together in the last few episodes of each season.

I'm holding off in reading the books till the story goes further down the road. I'd rather watch this with no preconceived notions of what to expect in the show. How many seasons do you guys think it will take to finish the first book?
They've already finished the first book. Season 1 was the entire first book and season 2 was more or less book 2 done.

I have a feeling that Ros will fill the same role as Jeyne Poole did in the books.

Burn Gorman was Daggets henchman in TDKR, he was on Doctor Who spin off Torchwood and in 50s set news drama show The Hour.

Noah Taylor was cool in Submarine.

So... by "proper," you mean "how wanted it?"

Jaime, in his prime, is a better swordsman than an old Ned Stark. Jaime, in his prime, is probably a better swordsman than an in-his-prime Ned Stark.

Not to mention, just because something could go to the death doesn't mean it needs to. Jaime isn't a moron. Killing Ned would have been bad, bad news.

Oh. I guess they could have done that. I don't know whether it would be better, worse, or the same.

It would mess with time perception, I'd think. Sure, they could try and timestamp the events somehow, but in a serialized series, unless otherwise noted, the assumption is that one episode happens chronologically after the previous. So after an entire episode of Jon and Night's Watch fun, viewers would have to be told "Hey, this episode of Dany fun is alllllll going on at the same time as last episode." Then every few episodes time would progress.

Seems like it'd be more hassle than it's worth.

I don't see how, considering she and a certain other character look nothing alike. Nor has Ros had any dealings with Sansa.

I think she'll be used as a double to the other characters sister, perhaps because of Littlefinger's connection to her.

And really I'm mostly basing this off of her dealings with Theon in season 1 the two having something of a relationship, it'd make sense for them to utilize her instead of just bring in Jeyne out of no where.

That was make-up?!?!

I thought that was entirely CG.... :wow::up:

Nah, they wouldn't be able to afford that with that detail. Even if it's HBO.

Yeah, but just think -

When the dragons get older and bigger, they'll have to be played by two guys in a repainted horse suit. That's right... a repainted horse suit with all that detail.

You joke but it's quite possible...:o

When the robots take over...that thing will feast on our flesh. If only they could find a way not to have white panty hosed men hanging out the bottom.

If I had Bill Gates money, I'd buy one of those costumes.

LOL, I had to watch until 1:29 to know WTF you were referring to.

Nah, we'd need someone who is actually good at acting. :cwink:

Robert Carlyle would be my choice.

I think he's a pretty good actor, he was great in Ghost Writer and in GoldenEye, Thomas Crowne affair, Seraphim falls...

Carlyle is an all round better actor but I can't see him as Mance.

He'd be a great Euron Greyjoy.

**** that's brilliant. Nina Gold is like the Andrea Romano of live action.
