Game Streaming Needs a Change

Every once and awhile I'll check out a stream on twitch or PS4. I do this for one of two reasons: I'm either curious how the game plays or possibly checking for different strategies.

However, this seems barely possible most of the time now. Anytime I join a stream the majority of it is the person playing the game looking over at the comments section and thanking somebody for something. If not that, oh my God am I ever sick of the phrase: "Don't forget to hit that follow button".

It's so hard to find someone who just wants to play the game and not looking to be the next big streamer. It's very rare for someone to make top dollar on these things, but why people subscribe (and pay!!) mind you to watch a person asking for more follows than actually playing the game is just odd.

The worst part is this is trickling down into youtube channels too that aren't even live. Everyone wants that ad revenue (of cents) so most of the videos are just not helpful. They are usually rather short and copy every other channel to get views on just the same content.

Am I crazy or is this trend getting really annoying?

Maybe I don't really understand what it is your saying, since I don't really watch Twitch or YouTube gaming stuff, but couldn't you just press the mute button? If you're just watching these things to get a general idea of what the game looks and plays like, it wouldn't be that big of a deal to just watch without sound, would it?

The worst part isn't even their talking, it's the lack of playing. I guess one of the main things I was trying to get across was how odd I found it that these people consistently ask for money to watch, yet they are AFK so often it makes me wonder why people do pay...

I can go to several sources and watch reviews and such, but it's nice to see it in action with a real human being playing in real time with no filtered opinions.

Ultimately I'm a little sad that you don't see as many people playing games for fun on these streams, but now it's a "job". For a select few, sure, but it's ridiculous at this point.

Well I was trying to start up a discussion on how this is becoming incredibly common. I've solved my own issues on what to watch and not watch, but I was seeing if others felt the same way. I thought it was clear in my last two posts that I don't just sit on one stream and find alternatives. Thanks for you well thought out response
