i went to gamestop the other day to see if they'd take my non working ps vita. i didn't have it on me but they said they'd take it for $110, minus $30 to refurbish it since it wasn't working so $80. not a bad deal but when i came in the next day with it the lady said with the scratches and what not or whatever, it came to $38...

so yah, i don't really like shopping at gamestop. for me it's either target or best buy or even wal mart for video games. most of the time these days though i get my stuff on ebay. i saw aw for Ps4 today for like $50.99 on there with free shipping.

wat do you say?

Haven't been in a GameStop in years.

They're okay. If they have a good pre-order exclusive, I'll go with them, otherwise I usually just go with Best Buy and get my reward points.

They are the closest store to buy video games from for me as well, so that helps their cause.

I think I'm going digital download from here on out. I got CoD without having to hassle with lines and I plan on the same with next gen GTA 5.

I go in to see if they have certain games but mostly they annoy me. I never want to sign up for the ****ing card as I never go in there enough and I don't want to give out my phone number, address, date of birth or whatever to sign up for it. The only times I actually want to go there is if I can't find a game I'm looking for for a decent price online or to pre-order a special edition or something.

I don't think they're all that great but don't hate them either and so I guess I just like them enough. I just shop there at the mall when I remember I need a PSN card or something. I don't buy much games anymore and only pre-order when they have great pre-order deals.

They have nothing new I want that I can't get elsewhere, and for a better price. I don't support the ridiculous pre-order nonsense & eBay is a better vehicle in every way for used stuff. I haven't set foot in one since 2005 and see no reason why that should change any time soon.

I get all my used stuff on eBay for much cheaper than gamestop.
I realize they have to make a profit, but sometimes what they offer is just ridiculously low.
A few years back I took a bunch of 360 games into gamestop, and they rang em all up, and then told me I would only get 7 bucks for all of those games. So needless to say, I said " No thanks " and I took my things and left.

My big issue with Gamestop/EB Games is how they'll open a game's packaging, throw the disc in a sleeve and stick it in a drawer, but then sell it to you for full retail price when you ask for it. Aside from brand new releases, which stay factory sealed in the glass cases behind the counter, they seem to do this for all their games. I'm not going to pay full price for something you already opened. I'm sure it's a security issue, since they can't just leave games sitting out on regular shelves, but maybe they should invest in security tags or something instead of fudging with my discs.

Now, for all I know, they don't do this any longer, since it's been a while since I've shopped there (for that very reason). But that was enough to turn me off of them for life.

They still do. I picked up Deadpool from them a week back and it was supposed to be new and it came in a sleeve. Next time they do that I'm going to ask them how it's still new. It's obviously not been left in the case with the sticker unbroken so why am I paying for a used game like it's new? The only thing I have is their word on it.

For used games, fine, that makes sense. But games that are listed as new need to stay in the case. Either they need to invest in the glass cases like Walmart has, or use the plastic security game cases that Future Shop/Best Buy use. That way the games stay sealed and untouched, and they don't have to worry about some ******* bolting with a copy of Assassin's Creed IV.

I use Amazon for buying games.

I don't bother selling games.

I only go to gamestop to re-new my Game Informer subscription or if I'm bored at the mall I'll browse for a few minutes.

Anyone know a good alternative place to trade my 500 gig PS3? That along with the 15 games I own (most of which came out within the last couple of years). I'm looking to trade it towards the inevitable PS4 bundle that'll be around this Black Friday.

Yeah Amazon is the way to go for getting games.
Then Wal Mart, Best Buy, etc.

I did get GTA V from Gamestop last year because it was the best place in my college town for games for Midnight Releases.

I dont see games, I want to, but I feel I wont get a good price anywhere

But if they don't open all the new games how will they steal the coupons inside?

as long as you don't trade in games or systems they are a good store. I got a lot of good deals new and used there I like the store just not for trade ins.

I really only use them for used games, and rarely at that. However, I have traded games to them in the past when I really wasn't concerned with getting money back. Sometimes you just need to get rid of stuff.

wait, what?? they'll take a new game out of its packaging and then charge full price for it?!

sometimes it depends on store or game but when I got Injustice new a few weeks ago it was shrinkwrapped.

It really, really depends. The last two times I've went in, it hasn't been too bad. They weren't too pushy on the card when I traded in some old Wii and DS games (which I got more than i expected) and placed my preorder for Bayonetta 2. Didn't get super pushy on other pre-orders. When I picked up Bayonetta 2, very quick in and out.

Compared to the other times where they were real ***** to me for not pre-ordering games. I can sort of understand the Monster Hunter Tri deluxe package, but you are going to give me attitude for not pre-ordering Mario Kart 8? I think a lot of it depends on the employee. I understand pre-orders are their bread and butter, but some customer service skills should be required.

Luckily, my local one doesn't do the sleeves for new games.
