Rogue One Gareth Edwards directing Rogue One - Release Date Dec 16 2016

What a great crew, and the cast is looking good! I wonder if Mads is playing a villain or a good guy?

I need a hi-res of that ASAP

I'm just here to say hell to the freaking yeah for Mads Mikkelsen joining Star Wars! Gareth has assembled one hell of a cast! I'm so thrilled. After seeing his work on Hannibal, there is no doubt Mads is gonna nail his role, no matter if he's good or bad. (Though he'd be an awesome bad guy)

I just love the diversity in the newer films. Star Wars is an international phenomenon, and therefore deserves the greatest talents in the world to help expand this universe. Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen in a Star Wars film? Not to mention guys like Diego Luna and Oscar Issac and John Boyega and Forrest Whitaker? Talk about awesome.

Going off on a tangent, I would've lost my mind if Disney had managed to snag Tony Leung in a role as he was rumored to be considered for the role that Yen was eventually cast in. (If I remember correctly). One of the greatest actors in China/HK (maybe even the world) in a Star Wars film? I'm still real down for Donnie Yen, and I don't think they'd ever let an Asian man who has always been picky about Hollywood roles be a lead in a Star Wars film, but I do hope Disney continues their awesome casting streak.

Way excited for Episode VII and Rogue One!

Yeah the anticipation for this just went from 1 to 100, damn good cast right there!

I'd never thought I would see Donnie Yen (or even Diego Luna for that matter) in a Star Wars movie.

Cast looks great, they put together such a great multicultural crew.
Maybe not revealed yet, but wish there was a couple of aliens among the leads group shown though.

I have a secret confession: I really like Star Wars but can't see myself ever watching Episodes VII/VIII/IX. I'm glad that there are these spinoffs for folks who really hate the butchering Disney will have done to the main franchise.

This Rogue One could look like a good cinema experience, but I'm having reservations until I've watched the actual trailer.

Episode VII trailers did not impress me at all. I didn't think a soccer ball robot nor literal laser swords really peaked my interest. Also personally think Milennium Falcon is overdone as a SW icon...

(Btw, I'm over 20, but I've never really seen a hot Caucausian actress before. The only one who came close was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But I'll have to admin, this Jones actress looks pretty damn hot!)

I know I am talking to crazy, but I am curious as to where the butchering of Star Wars is coming from?

Yeah, I found every word of that post bizarre, to be honest...

I'm not going to veer this thread off course, so I'll keep it brief. The soccer ball droid and lightsaber w crossguard didn't really appeal to me, nor the overuse of the millenium falcon as a fan-service device, nor the over use of a cybernetic lord of the dark side (cybernetics have been overdone in the SW universe IMHO, it was cool to see Luke get a prosthetic arm, but the effect wore off when Annakin had it too at Ep II end).

Now when I say butchering, what I meant was those concepts would never have made into Ep VII with Lucas at the helm. Double-ended lightsabers are bad-ass, not this lightsaber made to resemble a physical sword, etc...

Why doesn't Rogue One have it's own forum already, we have the title, concept, director, pretty much all the main cast, etc...
?

Prettiest White actress I've seen to date... (but only in this form --- I'm pretty sure if I dig hard enough, I'll find an ugly pic of her)

Also pic looks like they are in a Yavin temple secret base.
And is that a broken down X-wing turbine in the back?

I can't believe we are getting the film of the first few lines of the ANH opening crawl.

....It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR,

...Is the freaking plot of the movie.

Um ok ok I noticed the main cast only has one female leadWhich seems to be a recurring theme in Star Wars

That's making me raise an eyebrow. It's great she seems to be the lead, but it's odd how there doesn't seem to be a single other one. Considering we only just found out Mads Mikkelson is in this though, I'll wait a little bit longer in case they just have cast members kept under wraps still.

Tudyk as a CGI character? This just gets better and better.

This thread has two eras. Before eatup posted and after. :funny:
