@Hunter Rider did you see the leaked toy image yesterday of the Mutant?
No, where was that?

The worst part was that the one time the World movies actually stepped away from hybrids and gave us an actual dinosaur as the "big bad", it did absolutely f*** all. All the Giganotosaurus had to do was simply eat someone. One person. That's all it would have taken for me to bump the movie up a notch.I still think the mutant/hybrid element is stupid in these movies and it feels lazy when we have a lot of cool dinosaurs that actually existed and they could use, they go with "eh we made this frankenstein thing". However even after getting burned by the last 2 Jurassic World movies I still feel weirdly excited about seeing another dinosaur movie in the cinema.

Yeah I had a similar experience. I think the Jurassic World movies are just too fresh in people's minds and this one doesn't look like it's trying to do something drastically different, it has that same glossy filter as the last few movies. Dominion wasn't just disappointing but it managed to be the worst entry in the franchise as far as I'm concerned. All that build up and hype, they were doing the 'Avengers' of dinosaur movies bringing together the original 3 actors back on screen with Chris Pratt as Owen Thunderguns and Bryce Dallas Howard in her heels and they make a 3 hour movie about giant locusts. The trailer for this one came up before Thunderbolts* and it was dead silent. The trailer played horribly.

In Universal's eyes, they probably don't think they need to do any damage control. Dominion might have been trashed by critics but it still made a billion. We're kind of in Michael Bay Transformers territory where they're just churning them out because they're successful enough at the box office and they sell toys. I'll at least say that having Gareth Edwards as director and new leads in Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey are all a plus but they better not pull anything too stupid like a fire-breathing Rex.Dominion was awful and the worst one so far, I agree. And I think there is still interest in the franchise, but the trailers for Rebirth haven't been good and they've done nothing to make some kind of damage control.
But maybe is good! We'll see, I'm keeping myself optimistic as it has that JPIII vibe. I like Gareth Edwards.
It's funny how we went from 14 years of nothing from this franchise to getting one every three years with the exception of Dominion (because of pandemic related delays).I said it when this movie was announced they should have waited longer before making more. 5 years isn’t a huge amount of time these days and people who can’t afford the cinema or cable TV will have only seen Dominion within the last couple of years.
