Gary Friedrich loses lawsuit against Marvel for GR

Utterly ridiculous on Marvel's part. Therefore, my autographed Gary Friedrich pin up of GR and Blaze drawn by Ploog is considered counterfeit? Getting an artist to draw you something is now considered piracy?

Kiss my ass Marvel. No...I'm being too nice...$%^&*( YOU Marvel.

Yeah...lots of folks are talking about boycotting the movie...im considering it myself actually.

Its a damn shame Marvel's/Disney's lawyers are doing this...but they want to make an example out of Gary.

for those interested here is a facebook page w/ lots of info and links on what you can do to help...if you so wish

I love Marvel, but yeah, they're being ***** here to try to make him pay.

This is just the wrong way to go about, I feel. They probably could make an example of this without costing a man $17000. But I'm not at all surprised.

It's the same argument that the Ditko's and the Siegel's are using to try and gain sympathy. They think just because they have the biological blood of a characters creator, that gives them the right to own that character regardless of what deals they willingly made. It's the same deal with Friendrich. to quote Wikipedia.

''District Judge Katherine Forrest ruled that Marvel Entertainment owned the character, saying Friedrich gave up any ownership claim when he signed checks containing language relinquishing all rights. She said Friedrich had also signed a 1978 agreement with Marvel relinquishing rights.''

People are so busy claiming this is a case of big corporations vs. the ''little guy'', that they've abandoned common sense. No one put a gun to Friedrich's skull and demanded he sign or else. HE signed the deal with Marvel under his own free will and I for one don't blame marvel for countersuing. Frendrich tried to break a legally binding contract and paid the price. These ''heirs'' AND Gary Friedrich need to get it through their heads that once you sign a legally binding contract AND under your own free will no less, then you need to stick by that decision and except it. YOU signed the contract, YOU sold the characters. I for one will boycott nothing. This isn't a case of the ''little guy'' getting screwed. It's a case of grown men acting like children and trying to play ''take backsies.'' It's marvel and DC that have nurtured these ''stolen'' characters and either way it's not like the creators who sold them are hard done by. Sorry, but that's how I see it.

VERY WELL SAID.

its too bad that people think that a contract can be argued because "im the little guy" or "i wasn't thinking clearly". complete and utter b.s.
