Fueled by rabid fan interest and anticipation, New Line Cinema today announced that horror film aficionados will get their first chance to see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 4 as well as play Epic Games' new blockbuster "Gears of War" in four major cities, marking the first time in entertainment history that a major motion picture and video game have been previewed together.

The pairing of the new film with the game for this special promotion makes the perfect "Match Made in Hell" that's sure to delight fans of horror films and video games alike. Fans will be able register online beginning Friday, Sept. 29 here for a unique chance to attend the joint-showing at select AMC theater locations nationwide.

The original 1974 film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, shocked and stunned audiences with its bone-chilling realism. The horrifying story, drawn from a series of true events, is considered by many to be one of the greatest thrillers of all time and a landmark of terror that has influenced countless films in its wake. Iconic in popular culture, its menacing evil character, "Leatherface," will forever be one of the most recognizable screen villains. With 2003's remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, starring Jessica Biel, the filmmakers at Platinum Dunes brought new life and vigor to the horror movie genre, while also honoring its predecessor.

Now the company continues on that path with a startling prequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, which details the beginnings of the Hewitt clan and exposes their psychotic idea of family fun. It's 1969. The conflict in Viet Nam has exploded to immeasurable proportions, and 18-year-old Dean Hill's (Taylor Handley) number is up. Dean's brother Eric (Matthew Bomer), who has already seen his share of combat, plans to take Dean to enlist in his beloved Marine Corps in hopes of keeping an eye on him rather than letting him take his chances at the local induction center. But Dean's plans do not coincide with his older brother's. Instead, he plans to confront Eric about dodging the draft after the boys and their respective girlfriends, Bailey (Diora Baird) and Chrissie (Jordana Brewster) head across Texas for a final fling of serious fun.

Soon after their journey begins, the spirited foursome are spooked by a menacing pair of bikers, Holden (Lee Tergesen) and his girlfriend, Alex (Cyia Batten). When Alex chases the group's jeep, propelling them into a serious accident, Chrissie is thrown from the vehicle. As Alex attempts to rob the injured trio, Sheriff Hoyt (R. Lee Ermey) arrives on the scene and turns the tables on their would-be assassin. While Chrissie hides in the nearby brush, she watches as the sheriff kills Alex in cold blood and then inexplicably taunts her friends before ordering them into the back of the patrol car. Unbeknownst to Chrissie, Hoyt is headed back to the Hewitt family home where Thomas – who is being groomed to become the terrifying monster known as Leatherface (Andrew Bryniarski) – and the rest of the Hewitt clan await. In an effort to save her friends, she attempts to convince Holden to help her, but he is on a one-man rampage to avenge his girlfriend's death. As Chrissie witnesses the horrors inflicted by the Hewitt family upon the people she loves, she realizes she is their only hope of survival. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is directed by Jonathan Liebesman from a story by Sheldon Turner and David J. Schow and screenplay by Sheldon Turner. The producers are Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Tobe Hooper, Kim Henkel, Michael Bay and Mike Fleiss. The film is scheduled for release in theaters nationwide on October 6th, 2006.

"Gears of War" thrusts gamers into humankind's epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. The game blends cinematic-inspired horror and high definition visuals with a revolutionary tactical combat system all set in beautifully rendered interactive environments. "Gears of War" will launch exclusively on Xbox 360 beginning Nov. 7, 2006.

I wish I could go see this with Gears. Buutttt...nooooooooooo! Grrrrrr

There have been eight billion Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. Who even cares anymore?

I just want to see Gears on the big screen:)

Also, I really enjoyed the last Chainsaw movie. I even want to see the new one. I am a scary movie junkie though.

I saw Silent Hill. That kind of ruined horror for me.

But I liked the horror movies "Joyride" and "Jeepers Creepers". :D

You should watch "The Hills Have Eyes". Me and a few friends saw that in an otherwise empty theater, it was great. Most unintentionally funny movie ever.

I loved that movie. Best one I have seen in years.

Wahahaha. Most of the special effects looked like frame-by-frame photoshop distort filters in the trailer. :D

Dude...Dumb and Dumber is even better then Titanic! Its the best movie in the world! Gattaca is the reason why I like Dumb and Dumber. I watched it and it made ME dumber. So I could then relate to Dumb and Dumber better.

Wahahaha! I might just have to sig that! Titanic! :woot: I remember that movie! :woot:

If Gattaca made you dumber, you must have been really damn smart. :csad:

Anyway, hahaha. :D

hahahha...yeah that post still has me laughing!

So why are these movies cross promoted? Is there a chainsaw bayonette in the new movie? :D

I have no idea. M$ is doing the marketing campaign. I think its cause they both have chainsaws...and the chainsaw is FUN!

Yeah, I like that chainsaw attack. Cliffy loves to give us more of it in every video, too. :D

Anyways, what's Epic's relationship with MS like? Are the guys tired of them, or do they like working with them more than other publishers?

Seems like M$ loves us. I mean the love Gears. It is a very friendly relationship. I can't share any details but M$ is really doing a good job of supporting us and giving us what we need.

Jessica Biel is so hot.

she is. I loved her in blade trinity. her body was fan-frickin-tastic.

I also will love gears of war.

Maybe we could have a gears of war/jessica biel giveaway type competition if the developers could make it so...

ohhhh...maybe I could win Jessica Biel!!! Wait...Cliff would just chainsaw her anyway.

Don't they have a three game deal with you guys? That's what I heard from some announcement. I know Midway has the Unreal games but the deal made it sound like you'd have three MS projects.

I don't know if they're all going to be GoWs and I don't want to know, but just an opinion, don't be pidgeon-holed into GoW like you were with Unreal. :D
