He's gone :csad:

I regret to announce that my friend Gene Colan died at about 11 pm on June 23. Gene spent this last week in a quasi-coma state following a broken hip and complications from liver disease. He was 84.

Eugene "Gene" Colan (September 1, 1926 – June 23, 2011[1]) was an American comic book artist best known for his work for Marvel Comics, where his signature titles include the superhero series, Daredevil, the cult-hit satiric series Howard the Duck, and The Tomb of Dracula, considered one of comics' classic horror series. He co-created the Falcon, the first African-American superhero in mainstream comics.

Colan was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2005.

May he R.I.P.

damn...rest in peace

Damn, one of my favorite Iron Man artists.

R.I.P. :csad:

R.I.P

Frank Miller may have made Daredevil alot more edgier and "cooler" than he ever was, but it was Gene Colan who very much set the road for Miller, with his moody film-noir style. There was no need for a Bullseye or a Kingpin just yet. Colan made a character like The Jester effectively menacing enough!!

His Dracula is one of the most memorable representations of the character right up there with the images of Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee, imo.

R.I.P :csad:

Colan's and Gerber's Howard the Duck is one of all time favorites. Hope Marvel reprints that and most of his work soon.

His work on Tomb Of Dracula was breath-taking! R.I.P. Gene...:csad:
