I think it would be good if we had a separate thread for general gaming news so that the lounge can be freed up for gaming chat. Red Dead Redemption publisher president defends lockboxes

Not everyone in the video game industry is shying away from lockboxes or denouncing them outright. Take-Two Interactive President Karl Slatoff took the side of the ESA by saying that he doesn’t consider lockboxes gambling and that the Red Dead Redemption 2 studio will continue using microtransactions going forward.


“The whole gambling regulator thing, we don’t view that sort of thing as gambling. Our view of it is the same as the ESA statement for the most part,” Slatoff said during a recent confererence. “That’s going to play its course, but in terms of the consumer and the noise you hear in the market right now, it’s all about content […] You can’t force the consumer to do anything. You try to do your best to create the best experience you possibly can to drive engagement. And driving engagement creates value in entertainment. That’s just how it’s always been and always will be.”

THQ Nordic has launched a teaser website with a blurry background and countdown that ends on December 7 at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET.


From its official Twitter account, the publisher tweeted the above image, featuring the hashtag “#EndlessWinter,” with a link to the website.


The timing for the December 7 reveal lines up with The Game Awards 2017, which will have begun 30 minutes prior to the reveal, suggesting THQ Nordic’s reveal will occur during the event. Show host Geoff Keighley also tweeted the link.

XSEED Games teased three unannounced game localizations for 2018 in a promotional image for a Twitter Q&A the company is running.
The lower part of the image features XSEED Games’ announced 2018 lineup, which includes Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin for PlayStation 4 and PC, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II for PC, Zwei: The Arges Adventure for PC, and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero for Switch, alongside three silhouettes.


ResetEra user Saphirax uncovered the second silhouette to be English Detective Mysteria, an otome visual novel published by Marvelous for PSP in 2013 and PS Vita in 2016.


XSEED Games Forums user Banballow discovered the third silhouette to be Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, the upcoming remake of Senran Kagura Burst and Senran Kagura: Skirting Shadows for PlayStation 4.

Dauntless drops a winter event for everyone through January

Just because the game is still in testing doesn’t mean that Dauntless can’t take part in the fun of the winter holidays. The Frostfall event is running until early January (a specific date isn’t yet given), and it gives hunters of all skill levels a chance to take part in some seasonal merriment.


Said seasonal merriment, of course, starts with fighting enormous monsters, because this is a game where you fight giant monsters. New hunts are available to challenge you, along with new customization options for your banner and new consumable campfires.


There are also new emotes, new titles, and even a cosmetic helm to show the world that you took the time between bouts of monster slaying to really enjoy the glory of the season. I'm sure it is. It's extra sad that it appears the person who got killed might not even have been the actual target.

very sad news. alotof people aredoing alot of crayzy thging too with deadly consequense's and it also show those in alwa inforcement alos need to take more caution in stead of being read tfor an absolut shoot out. Iplease not twist it (they are supposed check out who inthe bulding and if they are armed and hotile first and from what that article read it seem all the person did befor thecop shot him was open the door. there alot to lern from all sides here.


regardless it very sad this happend and I'm very sorry an innocent person got caught in all this. and what worse that there some thast do this to people at all . joke or not this was wrong on many levels and from what I understand these days certain have been state any threat made online and some part in canada it dancing on heaty murder to terrorist charges now and if they see that you typed anything of that sort and it lead backto that maker let just say they won't have a nromal life if at all . people need top stop acting and being jerk's but it seem's it too much to ask for when there people that5 don't care for listening.

I'm hoping something comes from that Retrobit and Sega deal a few weeks ago. I know many gaming news channels on YouTube were hoping Sega were pulling a Nintendo with a Genesis Classic or Dreamcast Classic.

Glad he’s been charged. So he did another swatting call just 6 days before the one that resulted in the death? Yeah he needs a tough sentence and hopefully there is enough media attention that it discourages others from doing this in future.

yep he should get a worse sentance.


there was another artile from game zomne prior where this guy talk on video and he didn't seem to grap what he did was that terrable.
he said that yes he should be charged but hjthough uit would be a year in prison. you haveto see it on that site where he was intervirewed.

and I'm sorry if anyone take this wrong but the cops' in LA need to stop being so trigger happy/ I don't know what happened to negotiationd ? or checking outthe area ? but knocking on the door and shooting as soon as the door opens? It makes no sense, but this is what every article and actual video news out like nationa news on the topic have said and I'm sure swat team & HRT's have the gear to checking thing's out befor taking action.

Also I'm not sure what esle but what happened with asking the nabours if they heard any gun shot's? I doubt many people can get their hand's on silincer or sepressor's. so much is wrong here. And it's very saddening . And aman died cauase of jerks and actions like these. and he wasn't apart of the none sence their argument was about.

So I learned that Harvest Moon is still being made, BUT it's now under a new name in the west and is called Story of Seasons. The games we get that are still called Harvest Moon are not the same game.
