Im looking forward to seeing more of Solo's past and i like the look of it so im in
this looks so much better than every TLJ-trailer I've seen.
Interesting, looking closer at the new TIE it looks like the pod is for a couple of heavy guns rather than bombs like with the TIE Bomber.
Looks fun. Hopefully this is a fast-paced romp. All the design and cinematography looks great, but that's to be expected.
I liked his line at the end. It's weird seeing someone else as Han, but as long as he's charming as hell... More than his look, I think my biggest problem will be his voice-- He just doesn't sound a bit like Ford.
Also strange seeing the Falcon look so different. Strange, but cool.
EDIT: The gold dice from TLJ (yes, I know they were around in ANH and TFA) are hanging in the speeder at the beginning of the teaser.
With the exception of the delivery of that line "Thought we were in trouble there for a second, but it's fine...we're fine," thought it was a good enough trailer.
trailer was solid but i expected way more for a trailer to a movie out in may
It's Ron Howard's joint. He is more than competent director.
Not to beat the dead horse, take it to Kamino, clone it, and beat it again; but this single trailer makes every TLJ trailer look like a soap opera.
Acting aside, I wish they had cast someone taller. Harrison is 6'1". This guy is only 5'9" and it shows when he's next to Woody or Chewie.
The beginning also reminded me of the first Star Trek (2009) teaser. I guess Kirk and Han share similar personality traits, but it really felt like the same set-up.
Yeah, good call.
I do believe JJ's Kirk deliberately channelled Han/Ford in general, for at least that first movie.
The cinematography and visuals look like one of SW' best ever.
And Alden is just fine as Solo
So, Lando steals Emilia's cape...
Looks fun. I do agree the actors voice is a bit off, but he seems passable so far.
The visuals from the trailer was absolutely amazing. But I'm not feeling the actor who's playing Han Solo. I thought he was pretty flat. But I think the trailer did it's job. It reeled me in. I'm officially hyped. Just deliver some nice popcorn fun and I'm aces.
I love Lando.
I just dont get a Han Solo vibe from this dude.
So far, so good.
The bad guy looks sweet!
Having watched it a few times I still cant shake the feeling this film wasnt necessary.
I don't either.
Pretty VFX & cinematography though.
Visually, this looks great (as most current Lucasfilm productions do) but Ehrenreich's casting will either make or break this for me. This entire endeavor hinges on his performance.
For what it's worth I do think it's possible to recast an iconic role, that was defined by another actor, for a previous generation but it's incredibly hard and risky.
Abrams did it with Star Trek, with Chris Pine, who brilliantly brought Kirk to life (without doing a Bill Shatner impression) but just invoking the character as we know him. Same goes for rest of the cast. Or even McAvoy/Fassbender, playing younger versions of Stewart/McKellan in X-Men and of course Ewan McGreggor as Obi-Wan. Then there are trainwrecks like Terminator Genisys, where they managed to seriously miscast everyone.
It all comes down to casting. It's so insanely crucial.
I'm still not sold on Alden but I'm withholding judgment until I see the movie. Everything else looks cool. Glover looks aces as Lando and Emilia's a babe.
Abrams said his favorite SW character is Han Solo, though he liked Luke as a kid.
They're really going for some kind of Western vibe in those posters
A bit tropey in places ("putting a team together" "I know who you *really* are") but looks like an enjoyable romp.
I thought the TV Spot was ok and this Teaser is fine. Gave me vibes of Blade Runner and Rogue one. RO for me is still be best of the new SW movies so i kind of liked seeing that style again.
The hole "i'm putting together a crew" is old by now. It just gave me a "here we go again" vibe. Also the actor playing Han Solo just feels so weird. It would be so much better if he wasn't supposed to be that character in particular... His voice, style and mannerisms are just something else.
I would give this Teaser a 7 out of 10.
