Their real names may end up being Jacen and Jaina. Idk whether they would use specific names from the EU, but they've said Rey and Kylo aren't their actual names.

There are a lot of great Star Wars characters from the EU/Legends to utilize in the movies. It would be a giant waste if they don't use any of them...
:csad:
But anyways I'm still a J J Believer! So I hope to see them in the sequel trilogy.

I am 100% banking on Rey and Kylo being Han and Leia's kids. I've been saying for a while that they will probably adapt some elements of the old EU to the new cannon and Rey and Kylo could very likely be the canonized Jacen and Jaina.

I agree with the first part.
I would rather they just do their own interpretation of Jacen & Jaina the best they can do, rather than just adapt elements from the characters. The same characters with different birth names would just seem like a cheap and lazy rip off. It makes me wonder whats so wrong with the names Jacen & Jaina anways? I think they are great names. They've also already have been established in Star Wars for over 20 years.... Before the prequels... before the Dark Times...

Anyways, J.J is very talented director/store teller. His vision of Jacen & Jaina would be incredible. Perhaps even better than the books. If Kylo and Rey turn out to be alias' of Jacen & Jaina, this is going to be one hell of a great adaption of them!
:woot:

Yeah...they won't be named that. I'd bet anything on it.

Feel the living force. You know it to be true!

Also I just realized J.J Abrams initials correlates with the first name initials of Han and Leia's children. J J A

I was listening to Kristian Harloff*the other day on either collider or schmoes know, can't remember which one, but he was saying that he knows how the star destroyer in the teaser went down on jaku or whatever it's called and he said it was really cool. With that in mind it got me thinking what if it was Luke who brought down that gigantic craft using the force?. It would be coming full circle as in the original trilogy he struggled to raise his x wing from the Swamp when training with yoda. Just thought it was a neat idea that showed how powerful luke has become

Ren is not Kylo's real name. I don't think they ever said Kylo wasn't part of his real name, but I am not sure. Rey has been rumored to be Kira for a long time now, and it is the name that shows up on master list for the characters apparently. Not Rey, but Kira.

Han and Leia have no kids named that. Heck, they might not have any kids, though I doubt that.

^ That would be great. Reminds me of StarKiller bringing down the star destroyer with the force in the Force Unleashed games. I would love to see that on screen.

The rumors have the Battle of Jakku happening almost at the same time as the Battle of Endor, so chances are Luke is nowhere near Jakku when this happens.

I like the guys, but they have a tendency for sharing BS rumours.

Pull it out of the sky!!!"

God, that game had some really bad mechanics. :funny:

I like watching Kristian Harloff. I used to watch all the AMC Jedi Council shows. We share some similar ideas about the sequel trilogy. Then for some reason they changed it, now AMC isn't doing it? Now it's Collider Jedi Council.

I find it interesting that anyone would expect them to use names and characters from the EU for anyone major, especially with the creation of Legends. Why would they want the confusion? Especially when the characters and story are clearly different. Reading the spoilers, Rey and Kylo are nothing at all like Jaina and Jacen. Nothing.

It changed when John Campea left AMC over a situation he declined to elaborate on. John then signed on with Complex(who owns Collider) and joined the collider.com family. Instead of "breaking up the band", Collider took over and signed most of the people who worked at AMC Movie Talk, with AMC Theaters signing on as sponsors. Basically, AMC Movie Talk just became Collider Movie Talk and Jedi Council was one of the shows that continued on after the switch.

He was simply referring to it being featured in one of the new novels and it being the backdrop for a romantic relationship between two new characters(on opposing sides) created for that novel. As for why it crashed... it crashed after being damaged in a battle above the planet. Nothing more, nothing less.

Small correction... They said "Kylo Ren" is not the name he was born with and that Ren was a title.. However, the statement given is ambiguous in that it doesn't specify whether or not "Kylo" was part of his real name or one he took after joining the Knights of Ren. All they said about Rey is that her last name is being withheld on purpose.

Here is the statement from EW concerning Kylo's name:

It turns out — Kylo Ren isn’t the character’s real name. Or, at least, not the name he was born with.

Remember how we eventually learned that “Darth” is not a first name, but a kind of title? It appears the surname “Ren” is something similar.

“He is a character who came to the name Kylo Ren when he joined a group called the Knights of Ren,” Abrams says. But that’s as far as the writer-director will go. What are the Knights of Ren? You’re going to have to wait until Dec. 18 to find out.

According to Lost Stars, BoJ happens shortly after BoE. I couldn't tell you how long in SW-time, but in real life, it read like it happened about a week or so after the RotJ finale.

The problem with J/J is that they were turned into jokes. Well, Jacen was a joke early on (Anakin Solo had all the meaty stuff) and even when Jacen took on Anakin's role after Star By Star, Troy Denning effed him up with the Legacy of the Force crap. Jaina became a boring character and in the end I think nobody cared. The Disney sale could not have come at a better time, imo. I loved the NJO series (90% of it) and wanted much of it to carry over to a hypothetical Sequel Trilogy (still do, frankly), but everything after that varied from crap to megacrap.

Whatever Kylo and Rey's real names are, I actually hope they aren't J/J.

And, Doctor Jones, if you're reading this, for your views on performances, directors, Rian Johnson and Hayden, I love you.

I'm not a fan of the idea of Luke being able to rip a Star Destroyer out of the sky with the force.

Looking back at The Force Unleashed, I realize how damn overpowered for this universe Galen Marek was.

It disrupts the believability of it all and ventures into superhero territory, which Star Wars shouldn't do.

I'd be ok with something like that, but only under certain circumstances, eg. someone getting there right before they die.

I said this in an earlier thread and everyone jumped all over me. So... I agree, but apparently this is a controversial subject.
