This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]506497[/split]
I dont see why you wouldnt want the saber fights to be more like the prequels instead of the old trilogy atleast in the next 2 installments. This one sure Ill go slower fights but the next two better up the wow factor.
Better quality BTS interview with Ridley TV spot on the Disney Channel:

You don't see why? Did we watch the same PT duels?

Yeah, wow wouldn't be the word I'd use to describe the prequel duels. Overly choreographed and silly would be more accurate. Duel of Fates wasn't bad, but you can kinda see the start of the problems soon to come. I don't mind them being a bit more choreographed, but they took it way too far. It felt cold, emotionless, like people just repeating what they were taught. There's no passion to it. The best part behind the OT lightsaber battles was the rawness of it all. Mostly in Empire and Jedi.
First off all the duels were fine in the prequels including the ones you picked. Second both Ian and Samuel L's fight was more of a mix between slow and fast paced. Maul vs obiwan and anakin vs obiwan were some intense fights. You foget this was the golden age of the jedi during the prequels. Also you would have got fast paced saber fights in the OT if it werent for the actor not being able to see out of the vader mask and alec gusiness being obviously too old to do alot of stunts. Even poor mark was trying to go fast but he had to pull back.
Any movie goer will tell you they want a fast paced sword fight where each fighter is trying to wear the other one down and hit weakneses quickly. Also anyone that wants to say the prequel fights were too stylized and choreographed I just have to laugh given how in real life they were just start hacking at each other and look a total mess.
preach Snow
And I just have to laugh at this.
Why? As movies progress over time the energy and fast pace nature pick up. Go look at the pirates film as well the sword fights there were just as fast and they came out the same time frame. Story wise obiwan trained anakin everything he knew and there fighting style in the finale represented that. Heck even in the tv spot of finn and the stormtrooper going at it was fast paced and stylized. You want people just kind of standing there tapping sticks? The sabers have weight to them but lets not act like there thors hammer.....
