Jude Law for Zod.
I was hoping to see a Brainiac Luthor team up.
Hell, I would rather have Mxyzptlk than Zod.
Not bad. I just think that it seems like they're already falling into the trap that sunk Superman Returns, of returning to the familiar iconography of what worked with the Donner films rather than trying something different. But if Zod does turn out to be the villain, I'll try my best to keep an open mind.
I guess it's because I don't follow the comics, but why is everyone so down on Zod?
He's a Kryptonian bad dude, and he'll be done different enough from the Donner version; I mean, Nolan is in charge of this, right?
Nolan did the Joker, and he did it different enough from Burton's, and it was awesome.
I think it's because Zod's never really been that big a villain in the comics. It was really the Donner films that popularsed him, and it's only in recent years that he's really began to play a prominent role in the comics - and even then his comeback was in a story co-written by Richard Donner. So perhaps people are wanting to see more of Superman's comic rogues gallery rather than a guy who has always been more recognised as a movie villain than a comic one.
While Joker is/has always been Batman's main foe, that is not the same for Zod. To keep bringing him in to the films while there are tons of equally (if not better) villains out there is idiotic, Hispanic Man.
Zod has been done before, and short answer Superman has much better villains that haven't been used yet.
So I think most of us would rather see somebody else.
Zod's cool and all, but I want Braniac.
If this is legit, I'm kinda disappointed.. I was eager to see how a movie version of Brainiac would turn out if Smallville's superb version is anything to go by.
However that said I'm cool with Zod as well, considering Snyder is at the helm & I have actually thought he'd make a decent Zod in the past.. how about Gerard Butler as Zod?
Having a Scot cast as Zod at least would get away from the presumption Zod should be played by an English actor..
Suck it, dude I possibly know!
Why don't we all wait till we get at least get a plot synopsis before judging on whether the villain sucks or not?
i will destroy you in halo sometime!
I..mean.. SPARTA BEFORE ZOD!
That may or may not happen!
I completely agree. I just want to see a bad ass Scot on screen, being one myself.
I'm sick of Zod.
Let's cool down on the complaining, peeps. Remember...
Not this **** again!!! Not this *****ebag again!!!
I swear,if Zod is going to be the only villain in this movie or with Lex Luthor only, then I am going to automatically skip this movie.
Zod is one of the better villains, IMO. Atleast in the sense that he can stand on his own, unlike characters such as Parasite, Metallo, and Bizarro. Those three are treated more like superpowered thugs and would provide a good fight scene and some action, sure, but what beyond that? What would they do besides kill and destroy once they're unleashed? They'd need to be backed by someone like Lex in order to give the movie some depth, and I know how much people are against another Lex movie.
Not buying it. Not this soon.
Lex Luthor I'm fine with. He's an essential part of the Superman mythos. But the COMBINATION of Lex Luthor and Zod again is what is worrying me again.
Superman - Lex Luthor has a crazy real estate scheme involving wiping out a large chunk of America.
Superman II - General Zod is the main villain, Lex Luthor does sneaky stuff in the background.
Fast forward a couple of decades....
Superman Returns - Lex Luthor has a crazy real estate scheme involving wiping out a large chunk of America.
The Man of Steel - General Zod is the main villain, Lex Luthor does sneaky stuff in the background.
Gerard Butler for ZOD
I highly doubt this will be a sequel to Superman Returns. This time around, Lex will probably have a more serious characterization and not become a lackey of Zod again.
