Sequels General Zod

I was wondering if anyone would like to see the return of Zod in any of the sequels? I love the old Donner films and his character seems to be very popular. I would love to see him return in a future sequel but the only worry I would have is that the filmmakers would just be "remaking" the older films. What is everyone's opinion on this?
