George Clooney Joins 'Buck Rogers' Series for Legendary
Legendary is currently developing a prestige limited series that is being written by Brian K. Vaughan with the goal of launching a film and an anime off-shoot if the initial series is a success.

Clooney has boarded the project as executive producer, along with his Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov. The project is being developed as a potential starring vehicle although insiders insist there is currently no acting deal in place.

Intrigued.

He seems a bit old for the role. Maybe he'll play a different character.

I hope there's Wilma Deering and Twiki in it and that it won't turn into some gritty and dark sci-fi.

Maybe being frozen in space ages Clooney to his current age. They can do some deaging in the beginning.

Yeah he's likley not playing Buck Rogers, just that he's producing.

Love the Gil Gerard & Erin Gray Disco era version, but...
I hope they go full retro with this; back to rocketeer-jetpacks, aviator gear and goggles, jodhpurs, fish-bowl-helmets, and rockets with port-holes and fins, etc....

Although I have no idea if anyone else would want that.
Or at least vintage Frazzeta style .

If Clooney isn't Buck Rogers then who would people like for the role?

And how about Wilma Deering and Princess Ardala?

Put me down as another "Clooney is too old to play Buck Rogers" and "This is totally going to be enough juvenile grimdark reboot".

Buck Jensen Ackles
Wilma Margot Robbie
Ardala Megan Fox
At this point Clooney would have to play Dr, Huer.

I remember Buster Crabbe making a guest appearance on the Gil Girard version. I would think that if Clooney were needed to sell the show it would be in a similar one off.

I see you've excluded the possibility of Clooney playing Twiki.

Poor Gil Gerard waiting by the phone.

Should Buck Rogers's journey to the future be according to the original method where he falls asleep in a cave and wakes up in the future, or by the 1987 method where his starship Ranger 3 is blown out of its trajectory and he's frozen for 500 years?

I'd prefer the latter method, and this time I want them to actually show that mission and him being frozen instead of it being just in the opening credits and a voiceover.

If I remember, in the pilote, you see Buck's space ship launch on current Earth and him being caught in the space storm and being frozen.

I know Flash Gordon was pure space fantasy ala Star Wars. But was Buck Rogers supposed to be a little more science based on our future 500 years from now? I know the strip, serials and tv series were a little goofy, but wasn't that what separated Buck Rogers from Flash Gordon? This was our future ala Star Trek?

Knowing George Clooney's interests, I assume he'll be going for a more serious take on where we will be as humans 500 years from now.

There is a simple way to explain both...!
... his starship is blown out of its trajectory into cave where he's frozen for 500 years and wakes up in the future, ?

Maybe Clooney as Dr. Huer

Although he looked like this in the comic strips, don't know if Clooney would lend himself to it.
