How is being a UFC champ not on a level with the Olympics?
GSP fight highlights:
I feel bad for Chris Evans.. I wouldn't even want to fake fight GSP.
Interested in the fight scenes, now that GSP is in this.
Not to mention Grillo.
Cap's going to get some *serious* ass-whoopins in this movie, I can tell right now. t:
good I'd love a little gang up on Cap moment where he has to dig himself out of a hole and show his full potential.
There better be some awesome fight choreography now
This thread should've been entitled Batroc Ze Lepair
I hope GSP wears a costume that at least looks similar to the comic costume. I don't want him to look like a generic fighter. They can update the materials so that it looks more realistic, and even some of the colours can be more muted, but he shouldn't look so completely different to his comic incarnation. Besides, if he's such a kick-ass fighter, is anyone going to laugh at him if he wears a slightly ridiculous costume?
Cap might laugh at him, then get kicked really hard in the head and stop laughing.
The audience might even laugh at first, but then would be silenced by his skills.
After all, other characters could look silly if you just saw them for the first time without any context. Even the Joker could look quite ridiculous, even in something like The Dark Knight. It's because we know of his creepy and psychotic personality and how dangerous he is that it changes how people perceive him.
It's like these kids in school who look sappy or goofy at first, but then turn out to be tougher than their physical appearance betrays.
So I think Batroc, especially with GSP playing him, could completely pull that off.
Agreed. I only know Batroc from the Ultimate Spider-Man show I've been watching since I think it's a funny and decent show (I know a lot of ppl hate it but whatever lol) And he's pretty silly there but GSP is a game changer for sure, the dude screams intimidating
I seriously doubt Batroc will be played as the goofball from the comics. They'll probably make him a Van Damage-style kickass kickboxer with a subtle French accent, but not zee ott-reggious ak-sent, s'il vous plait
Is Batroc big in Cap stories? He seems like an odd character in any context and not a very intimidating villain. more like a silly bank robber haha
Can this be an April Fools joke?
He doesn't need to be goofy but i'd still like him to look visually reminiscent of his comic appearance. Also some really bad ass villains can be a bit quirky which is what makes them memorable and all the more scary.
Kinda crazy though. All the villains already announced for phase 2. probably over a dozen named villains by the time GotG starts shooting.
Well, if he's a kick-boxer, their outfits can easily be brightly colored, without looking out of place. For example this one just needs a slight color change from blue/yellow to purple/orange, and you've got a serious-looking Batroc. Not sure about the helmet, unless you go with a boxing headguard.
So let me get this straight? This Batroc the Leaper, who I've never really heard of, is going to get the big screen treatment before Wonder Woman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, etc?
I guess you could argue since he's lesser known, there's less pressure to adhere to the source material, unlike the bigger names, but still.
Well it's not like Batroc is getting his own movie.
And you're talking about DC characters, whom WB can't even seem to invest in and get their act together, unless it's Batman or Superman.
he's some side-kick villian in a Cap America movie...it's not Batroc 2
Anyone think though that if Batroc proved very popular with audiences, he could get his own spin-off movie, just like an original character like the Scorpion King (with the Rock) got his own movie which was a spin-off from the Mummy?
I doubt that, but I could see him turn up again in a supporting role, in Ant-Man perhaps or as an antagonist in SHIELD.
Well he could show up in a Black Panther movie, as leader of a group of mercenaries invading Wakanda, as organised by Klaw - which is accurate to the comics.
Now will he have a mask more like this?
Or like this?
I can't see the 2nd one appearing, as that is similar to the Wolverine/ Hawkeye mask style, which no-one has ever managed to put onto film.
Its only been the last year or two that I've really started reading comic books, and I haven't read a lot of Cap yet, but I've already seen Batroc twice: in Cap's tie-in to Avengers Disassembled, and in the more recent Captain America & Iron Man.
