Any actor who can nail a role like he did in 300, deserves a franchise of his own. If Marvel doesn't go after him, you can be assured WB will fine something for him. What's up with Frank Miller's Stuff too...Marvel needs to get this guy on board as an independent consultant for MORe of their stuff...Sin City, now 300...wholly ****!

Butler was indeed excellent in 300, he made the film for me...I could actually see Butler as CA...or maybe Thor (but I think Karl Urban would do a bit better looks-wise as Thor)...and if not one of those 2, then Namor or Moon Knight.

He's already got the whole "speak only in speeches" thing down.

With a goatee or mustache, he might have passed for Tony Stark, but that's moot now.

With a clean shaved face, Butler might be a passable Cyclops or Punisher (or be Punisher with 5-o'clock shadow), or you could put him in heavy prosthetic makeup and try to pass him off as Mister Sinister.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. He'd need lifts and boxes to appear closer to the 6'6" frame of Thor and a long blonde wig. And a ridiculous amount of blonde hair dye to make him Captain America, assuming that audiences don't get offended by the idea of a non-American actor playing Captain America.

Gerard Butler makes me think more of the Comedian actually, if he had a thick Burt Reynolds/Tom Selleck style mustache.

good range too,

i thought he was good in Richard Donner's Timeline movie, and was good in Dracula 2000.

Still, he really puts the balls on the ceiling in 300,
some of the best and innovative story telling seen on screen in 2007

Amen, but they better hurry, he ain't getting any younger. Nah I'm just kidding, he's fine. It's just that everyone makes a big deal out of age. Like everyone should be no more then 25 to be cast. I actually like the 30 something actors over the 20 something actors. They look more like real men and women and have believable experience as the hero.

Back to Butler. i think the guy is awesome. Did very well.

Maybe, he doesn't look much like McKellen. Now he would make a good Magneto if they go the Ultimate route where prof X and magneto are like around 40.
