He was probably just guessing since it is in the same month of the DVDs release.

Usually it's the studios that deal with release dates for DVDs and whatnot. I don't see why a director would care to get involved with when the DVD comes out.

Personally, I don't want it by itself. I'll wait for that super extended cut with it put back in...mainly because I want to see the news stand scenes.
