I read a few of the comics about 20 years ago, so I'm not really up much on Ghost Rider, and I don't understand the ending. Ghost Rider's job is to get evil people's souls and send them to the devil. At the end he says he's not working for the devil anymore, but he's still going to go after evil people. What happens to their souls? Does he store them in a bucket somewhere?

He never took their souls, he just punishes people who commit crimes against the innocent, thats why he's called the Spirit Of Vengeance. He only sends demons back to hell, and they dont have souls.

How does he punish them? Physically, by whipping them with his chain? Or does he just cause the physical/mental anguish with his Penance Stare, but their soul still remains in their body? So he basically just lets the bad guys feel all the pain they have caused their victims, then he sends them on their way?

if by "send them on there way" you mean "leave them in a state that's pretty much a coma, but with constant agony and pain" then yeah, you're about right

What was up with that devil guy just yelling like a ***** at Blaze at the end of the movie? I thought he should've dragged Blaze down to hell or something. How do you guys think it should have ended?

The reason Mephistopheles didnt drag Johnny down to Hell or try and kill him was because he is no were near as powerful as Ghost Rider on earth. That why he sends GR after Blackheart instead of dealing with him himself, Mephiston loses a lot of his power on earth.

Thanks. But I still think the ending would have been better if Blaze had been dragged down to hell. At least then it would of had one good climactic moment and it would have set it up for a sequel.

^Mephisto didnt have the power to do that on earth though. In the comics Blaze had to be killed before he went to hell.

^Because he didnt know Blaze was going to keep his powers until the very end. He thought Blaze would give up the powers in a heartbeat, which most people would have.
