Heh, I know for sure someone already did a GR2 halloween costume( i remember reading about that in one of the older GR sites). Personally i always was really close to make one, but every year i stopped before finishing the skull.. I've never solved the flame problem. But some days ago i did it! (although only in theory, but i'm sure this is the best solution around...).
The jacket is quite the easiest part (i have a black leather jacket made with quite thick leather,my friends say it's like an armor , and i found that it was ideal to the job). I did the arms spikes with carboard covered with adesive mirror-like card, found in a office-things shop, and the bracelets also with cardboard covered in adesive black rubber. I had to make two rectangular thick cardboards covered in black adesive rubber to sustain better the spikes on the shoulders, because the shoulder straps were made in loose leather.
The spikes were in two measures, 6cm heigth 3 cm wide for arms and shoulders, 3 cm height 1,5 wide for the backhands and right knuckle-strap.
Boots and denim weren't a problem, they are easy to find(from biker style to more western like stile).
Now the skull. I have plenty of skull mask, but they are all generally too big.
But, some year ago i found a hollow rubber phosphorescent skull stuffed with padding that was:1)cheap 2)about the size of a real average human head, slightly bigger. Naturally i bought 2 or 3 of this. I already cut out the bottom of the skull, and even maked the jaw articulated. Now, by adding some elastic black tissue inside the mask, i can "talk"
The problem, as i said at first, was the flame. Most of people i think uses colored cotton-wool , but it bends with time, you need to "brush" it up often in position, and it's not very "natural" (although quite good in photos).
The solution came watching one of those fake-flame-lamp , you know, those lamp with a fan under a colored really light translucent tissue.
i guess 1/4 fans on the top of the skull could work(maybe thoose colored light fan that are used on transparent cases), maybe some adapted PC fan, with battery in the jacket. Alternatively could be used compressed air cans, with tubes going on the top of the head, but i don't think they can be hidden easily.
After all this personal rambling, do you have any links of GR halloween costumes?
