Damnit, I promised myself to support Hemsworths career but this is tough.

Well if it makes you feel any better I don't think he's in dire need of your support.

Do you have something against talented people who also a great job at portraying a classic comicbook character?

I guess that's true I just have wanted to see every project he is in and I already said I wouldn't give this one my money. His involvement makes this harder to stick too.

No....I have a few things against this movie, I don't quit understand your question or what you are saying really...

Careful, those who don't agree with this remake get labeled as sexists. Even though Feig only casts women in all of his movies.

Erm...no. I don't even like the guy's films that I've seen (0/2 for me) and am not onboard with this one but that's just inaccurate. Unless you mean leads, in which case I fail to understand your point.

The Bechdel Tests requires that there are two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. So as long as there are scenes in which they DON'T talk about a man, it passes.
The problem I have with the Bechdel Test is it is both too narrow and too wide at the same time. It specifies one particular thing that justifies its existence even if every other aspect of the story is positive and progressive. There are movies that have "passed" this test and still been a terrible example and movies that "failed" yet were excellent examples.

That a movie can pass or fail based on one otherwise insignficant detail should be meaningless. Stringent "do this one thing or fail" requirements basically set up failure or forced contrivances around not doing this one thing to fail, even if it might be necessary in the story (without failing to portray women appropriately).

A newer, more nuanced "test" is required. The Bechdel Wiki article lists several alternatives but none are really a good overall test of a story's positive representation.

the beschdel test was not created as something serious.the only reason it got popular on the internet is because when you look at 100 movies its shocking how many fail the test. A LOT

and now we use this stupid test to show how stupid people in hollywood are.

It was not initially meant to be taken seriously but obviously that is no longer the case. People do take it seriously and judge movies on a trivial piece of information.

Though the claim about looking at movies that "fail" the test is also pointless, as I said. It's an arbitrary piece of information. As you said, it should not be taken seriously.

Maybe I should create a test of my own to show how many male stereotypes are represented in movies that will fail it.

I think the beshdel test may not work well at judging single film, but works very well at analysing some of the problems in Hollywood in general. People have already used alternatives to see how certain ethnicities are represented.

It might have originaly been made as a joke, but it's kinda shocking to see how when you narrow the results into percentages, Hollywood is still very racism and mysoginistic.

Regarding the subject of Ghostbusters, is this new film realy going to be a reboot? I don't see the problem in an all-female ghostbusters, but i don't see the point of restarting, they could just keep continuity and have the old films as backstory.

Yep. It's one of the dumbest things I ever heard of. As if it proves a movie is good or bad.

Well Hemsworth seems to have a sense of humor, so I cannot say that I'm all that surprised by this. I kind of hope that they play it straight, he's just the earnest/well-meaning receptionist. Oh and let him use his natural accent.

HA yeah I love his natural accent. Imagine him saying 'Ghostbusters, what do you ya want?'.

Mate. He had to say mate after every intro. :o. I think he should be kinda snarky like Janine, it would be a hilarious contrast to his look.

Nobody uses it see if a film is good or bad, but to use as reference to raise awareness for the genre inequality in the film industry. Only times it's actualy used to see if a film is good or bad or probably when a film only starring female characters ends up not passing it.

Sony is moving forward with the all-female version of 21 Jump Street. I decided to help Sony redesign the company logo:

:awesome::awesome::awesome:

As much as I love Hemsworth, it still doesn't make me want to see this movie. It's still just a reboot/remake after all.

He wasn't gonna pull a Murray and wash his hands of his baby.
