Ghostbusters 3 - Part 4

Chris as the receptionist? Kind of genius to me at least. These gals could want this hunk of beefcake around to ogle... Could be the source for some great humor.

If the roles were reversed wouldn't that... I don't know... be called sexist?

Maybe I am, then so be it. Im not gonna waste my time hating on this because well, it's too late. Life's too short for that. And if it's good, then i'll give it some credit.

Seems like a parody to me. Also a very cruel joke on ghostbusters fans everywhere.

You're absolutely right, it is a very cruel joke to all Ghostbusters fans out there that have been fans of the movies, cartoons, had the toys, etc.

cruel indeed.

You give Feig and Sony too much credit.
Considering Feig has been making a career playing on those gender conventions, I'm gonna say no, Octoberist isn't giving him too much credit on that one.

Right. Feig knows exactly what he's doing with this one. Why are people thinking he doesn't know how to take typical gender norms and throw them completely out of the window or make fun of them? He did it in Bridesmaids and even moreso in The Heat (which is hilarious, btw).

If this is as good as those two, I'll be more than happy. Still haven't had a chance to see Spy yet, but the reviews make it sound like it's another win for Feig.

Spy is the best of the bunch, imo, which is encouraging, since it's the only one of those three he also wrote.

Spy made me have some faith in this new female Ghostbusters movie. But I am still hoping Sony greenlights the male version as well with Tatum. Also Kevin Hart should be one of the new male ghostbusters.

Hemsworth character will be crying in the corner listening to the female Ghostbusters talking about how much they love bad boys and jerks.

I also find it funny that this movie keeps getting called out as "gimmicky" yet the hundreds of action movies that continue to just cast males never get called out in the same way.

coughTheExpendablescough

That's because when it's a story with a male lead, it's just a story. But when it's a woman in the lead then THE FEMINAZIS ARE COMING.

What are the chances that there's going to be a scene between any of the women where they talk about Chris Hemsworth's character? Cause that already failed the Bechdel test before production even began. So is this movie still a win for the feminists as some people like to preach?

The Bechdel Tests requires that there are two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. So as long as there are scenes in which they DON'T talk about a man, it passes.

:lmao:

"They talked about a man in one scene, ALL HOPE IS LOST!!!!!1!!"

As a seeming "replacement" for Murray and co., I guess I can get why some people are up in arms over this. But after The Heat, Bridesmaids, and Spy, you'd think people would at look forward to it as a movie of its own.

And I agree with Shadowboxer, Kevin Hart would make a great Ghostbuster in the Tatum/Pratt/Akroyd project, which NEEDS to happen, you hear me Sony?

Just got back from SPy. While I definitely didn't hate it by any means, I wasn't crazy about it. Thought the acting was great with some really funny laughs, but it felt extremely typical for a Spy comedy/spoof and just overstayed it's premise. Bridesmaids and Freaks and Geeks are still the best thing Feig has done imo.

Re-watched Bridesmaids recently as well and have been trying to change my mind about this flick. But just can't get over that in this day and age of Mad Max, Vacation, Terminator, Jurassic World, Star Wars and Evil Dead follow ups within continuity and characters this guy doesn't get what an extreme let down it is for fans to cut out all canon and mythology. Not even angry anymore, just very disappointed. The cast is great and I just think it's a shame they couldn't have made it work within canon.

There's no way I could see them not talk about Chris Hemsworth as the receptionist. This'll fail it hard.

If there's even ONE SCENE where they DON'T talk about Hemsworth and talk about something that's not a man, it passes. So if there's a scene where these women discuss...oh, I dunno, ghosts, then it passes. So no, it won't fail.

But what if all the ghosts they talk about are male?!!!

It will still fail the test. ;)
