Ghostbusters 3

I actually like the 2nd one better than the first.

:o

Then again, that could be because I saw that one first when I was 6...

I didn't see part one until what? 7-8...

Yea personally i love both of the films equally. And yea maybe if the game does sell wicked well and fans like and enjoy it maybe either that cgi film Dan was talking about last few yrs might happen or maybe they could go a bit of the ways of extreme ghostbusters and say the original team is now retiring after many long yrs of ghost bashing and they want to hire a new team, so they have new people come in but still leaves room up for any of the originals to come back to do a cameo or two. I think it could work and if dan and harold are writing it would probably be great.

Well, here's hoping that Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis never get to a point where they need the money so bad, that they make another one. Just let it go, people. Let it go.

Bill Murray is getting divorced and I'm sure his wife who apparently he hit would want everything she could get.

Harold and Dan seem to keep busy enough.

I watched Ghostbusters last week and while I was a huge fan of the movies and cartoons, this lasting viewing didn't impress me for some reason. Its aged bad in humour, effects and the action-less ending doesn't help.

Heres who I fear they would Cast if they wanted a Remake

Will Ferrell
Jack Black
Ben Stiller
and Maybe Will Smith.

I think theyd go younger if you ask me combining The High School Musical & Hannah Montana cast

I wouldn't call my feelings for GBII hate so much as they are just being totally umimpressed with the second one in comparison to the first. I'll watch them both, but only one merits being in my DVD collection.

This is what i've been talking about! Ever since all of these 80's "part 4's" and remakes, etc. have been happening, my first thoughts were always, "somebody get me the Ghostbusters":woot:

As far as the old films go, I like the first one ever so slightly more than the second but I'd still give them both an 9.5/10. I think they're brilliant and watch both of them at least 2-3x an year.

I want an Ghostbusters 3. I want all 4 ghostbusters and as many of the other supporting characters you can get to sign on AND hell, i'll take more GB's like Stiller, Black, whomever too.

Remake? meh, i'm not so hot on that but ANYTHING would be better than nothing.

Ghostbusters is one movie that should NEVER be remade, and for obvious reasons of course. Lucky for us, the studio can't touch the property and do anything with it, without the other rights holders signing off on it.
Don't Ramis and Aykroyd own the rights to GB being that it was their creation, or does Columbia own them?

I was really dissapointed in the second ghostbuster film but still found it watchable. that may be desperation. I can see other people totally shunning it .

Ghostbusters 2 is decent at best. It's certainly not the worst sequel I've ever seen. But the dropoff from the original is very much apparent. And even with that said, I would be open to the idea of a GB3. Even if it's completely CGI. I would be open to it. A remake seems more likely however. Which is something I'm not too enthusiastic about in the least bit to be perfectly honest.

We need more Winston!!!! He's lack of screen time which is not good :(

I always thought the idea of Egon training new ghostbusters would be kind of cool for a third movie considering how old everyone looks.

Both actually. The rights are split five ways between Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ivan Reitman, and Sony Pictures/Columbia Pictures. Aykroyd and Ramis are credited as the creators. A big reason as to why GB3 never happened is because Murray wouldn't sign off on it. Aykroyd was the driving force behind a third movie. He really wanted it to happen.

Yea murray has been one of the reasons why we havent seen a 3rd film. Hopefully the game is great. As i said before if a 3rd film could happen it would be easier to go the way of extreme ghostbusters and have the old team retiring/training new team and say the new team gets in trouble and captured by a big bad ghosties and then the old crew has to come out and save the day one last time. So this way we can have which ever actors are willing to come back and all that. And maybe like extreme ghostbusters show have egon train them. Also it would be cool if they did this way to have dana's son oscer be a new GB. But yea most of the guys has aged badly. Harold got really fat, dan is balding and i think he too got a bit fatter, murray just is really old looking, and the actor who played the black guy winstin he i believe is in great shape.

Sony (who technically owns it along with Bill, Dan, and Harold)is very protective of the franchise...it took some extensive research to convince them to allow the video game.

A few comments on what else I've seen here...

I think we can all agree that the recent plethora of remakes is not a good thing...Dawn of the Dead is the only one I think came out at least descent. A Ghostbusters remake would be a complete insult. But I wouldn't rule it out, with some of today's big name comedy players being involved...I know Seth Rogen has gone on the record as being a big fan.

Ghostbusters 2 has its fans...it's not as great as the first, but its definitely not a bad movie.

And let's not forget that there's a big Ghostbusters announcement to be made at Comic Con this summer (there was a sign that said this at Wondercon).

Yea some remakes have been terribled lately, but yea who knows what is going to be announced at comic con and maybe if the game sells well it will convince them all to attempt a 3rd film either live action and/or that cgi one dan was thinking of.

Bill Murray has been very solid on the fact that he doesn't want to do a third. However, he has said that he would do a CGI movie. Yet Sigourney Weaver said the she and Ivan Rietman actually talked about the idea of a CGI movie, and her exact words were, "There's no way."

Wasn't it supposed to be Eddie Murphy as Winston when the first film was cast?

Eddie Murphy, Jim Belushi and John Candy were originally going to have roles in the film. Belushi of course died and Bill Murray came in to replace him. John Candy was stuck with another movie so Rick Moranis came in and that role was re-written. Eddie Murphy filmed Beverly Hills Cop at the same time so Ernie Hudson was cast and the character was rewritten and now appeared later in the film. Which works better storyline wise.

Extreme Ghostbusters is canon in the animated universe, which is totally seperate from the movies.

wasn't there a couple of episodes of the toon, that reference events in the film, and one that actually shows the film as a biopic of sorts

Yes. There's actually an episode of "The Real Ghostbusters" which depicts the events after the Ghostbuster's battle with Gozer in the first movie...

Their multicolored jumpsuits are not just for show...they were explained in the episode--they had to get new uniforms because their original tan suits were tainted with Gozer residue or something and had to be discarded. In the episode, their jumpsuits create ghostversions of Ray, Egon, Peter and Winston and they had to take them out...its one of the earlier episodes and its on the Ghostbusters Gift set from a few years back...

I'm guessing you mean John Belushi. Sometimes I wonder how the movie would have gone if John hadn't died and got to play Venkman instead of Bill Murray.

And could you imagine if Eddie Murphy were Winston?

I'm kind of glad on both points, Ernie Hudson did such a great straight man that I don't think Eddie Murphy really could, and Venkman just is Bill Murray (enderaring despite being a huge jerk).

I want to know how the movie would if is was the original script, where it was in the future in space and the Ecto-1 was magic or possessed or something. It could never have been made but would have been a trip.

I thought there was a rumor of a Ghostbusters 3 but it was like a CGI tale like the new TMNT movie that came out. That could work since all 4 are pretty much to old anyway. But Seriously do you really want Ghostbusters to be remade? If that happens you're probably be looking at Comedians being cast as the Ghostbusters knowing Hollywood and all.

I could see this really, I mean this way you wouldn't have to worry about money much or the actors age..You'd just need the actors to come back and do the voices of the characters. This is the only way can a Ghost Busters 3 working people. A 3 live action is not a good idea, Im a fan of those movies really I am but don't want it ruined. As it was Ghost Busters 2 wasn't as good as the first one. Be glad its not beng remade any ways, so many child hood movies ruined for what? Money ack.
