I'm not so good with actors because I dont pay much attention to whos playing the roles unless Im really impressed, but some of these are just crazy.
Do we even need Mercer in a GI Joe film?? Maybe as cobra cannon fodder and thats about it.
Second, we can't have this movie based on the cartoon, where Shipwreck Dusty and Bazooka are sent on an arctic mission or some nonsense.
We need Grunt, Rock n Roll, Stalker, Zap, Snake Eyes, Scarlet, Hawk, Steeler, Clutch, Short Fuse...those types...leave the secondary guys who have specialties..like a Shipwreck...to sequels...IF they are needed. Honestly, id kill most of the names I mentioned...I think that GI Joe is NOT a movie for kids, since kids these days have never heard of it. Youre appealing to men 18-100...so give them a good war movie. I guess you could throw in a few of the bigger names like Duke in order to make people happy, but I would prefer, at least to start off, a straight up war movie, no Zartan, no Eco-warriors, and DAMN SURE no Cobra-La
Do we need Mercer? No. Will we use him in 1 of the 6 scripts? Yes.
Dusty should not be on an arctic mission but Bazooka and Shipwreck possibly. This is why, if you view my previous character list, I have 102 characters to incorporate. Because you won't have Dusty, Shipwreck, or Bazooka in an arctic setting or a jungle setting. Someone has to take their places.
Grunt - yes
Rock 'n Roll - yes
Stalker - yes
Snake Eyes - yes
Scarlett - yes
Hawk - yes
Zap, Clutch, Steeler, & Short Fuse - maybe, but only in minor roles.
As for Shipwreck, he is not just a secondary guy or special units person. He is a Navy S.E.A.L., a Chief Petty Officer(maybe a Mastert Chief), and he is basically THE NAVAL EXPERT of G.I. Joe. Just like Wild Bill is THE AIR FORCE expert. Shipwreck may not have a lead role but he will at least have the top secondary role.
I agree, it's not for kids. I don't think it will be made any less than a PG-13 rating. Personally, I want it more
like Apocalypse Now than the G.I. Joe animated series. We will probably get something inbetween. My vision for G.I. Joe can be best described as
'Apocalypse Now meets
Happy Days.'
I appreciate your desire for G.I. Joe to be a war movie and agree. The live action G.I. Joe movie should have some awesome war scenes, however...
we don't want a G.I. Joe movie. We want G.I. Joe moviessssss. As in a trilogy, a trilogy of trilogies - at least.
I have the ground work laid for a compendium of 12 G.I. Joe films. The last three are a stretch but there is PLENTY of room for Zartan. So much so that I have him and the Dreadnok's as the main villains in one of the films. Like other comic book films(Batman, Superman, Spiderman) the villains must change to keep intrest. Although COBRA will still be the head villain in charge of it all they will not be the focal point. I have Cobra La in my version right now but they could easily be worked out. Why? because they allow us to take G.I. Joe into the world of Sci Fi!!!
An example of what I mean:
Part 12 -
G.I. Joe: Beyond Space and Time
As for Duke, never met anyone who liked Puke. Though as I have grown older he is becoming a very intresting character. The fact that only mature adults like Duke tells you what type of film this should be...
