Mel Gibson (Apocalypto) is thinking of heading south to film a movie in Panama, tourism officials said Monday.

Gibson dined Sunday night with Ruben Blades, a tourism spokesman and singer, who suggested his next project should be a remake of the 1950 film noir Panic in the Streets, set in Panama.

Panamanian filmmaker Jose Severino was quoted in Monday editions of the daily newspaper La Prensa as saying that he was in negotiations with Gibson to produce a movie about Spanish explorer Vasco Nunez de Balboa, the first European to see the Pacific Ocean from its eastern shore

both projects sound promising but i wonder when he is gonna act again.

Gibson does one film and now he's obsessed? Facts are that his four directorial efforts (The Man without a Face, Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ, Apocalptyo) have been about different subject matters.

I really wish these guys would do comic book movies instead.

He did three Mad Max movies. That is good enough. He should definitly consider doing a fourth one.

He actually has several acting projects in the works, one is an undercover cop infultrating a motor cycle gang being directed by Antoine Fuqua, I can't recall the name but he's set to play a prison inmate in a movie with Robert Downey, Jr. too.
