Dadgummit, the boxes are going to be smaller. :csad:

It's always seemed a little too effortless to finish off a box of Girl Scout cookies, but if they are a little easier to dust off this year, it's not just in your head. To offset the cost increases of cookie ingredients, Girl Scouts of the USA made the decision to shrink its cookie boxes by a centimeter, package fewer cookies into boxes of Thin Mints, Do-si-dos, and Tagalongs, and reduce the size of its Lemon Chalet Crèmes.

According to the organization, the cost of flour rose by 30 percent, assorted cooking oils by 40 percent, and cocoa by at least 20 percent. The company felt this was the best method of dealing with increasing raw material prices. Alternatively, Girl Scouts could have used cheaper ingredients, or raised cookie prices from their current price of $3.50 per box.
Frankly, I'm surprised they aren't selling Girl Scout Vegetables by now, in this day and age of health nuts.

the thin mints are always good . someone at my work was selling them for their daughter , i got bloated on a box.

I can so relate to that. Sometimes it was breakfast. :O

And then there's the Thin Mint ice cream. Wow, seems so long ago. I couldn't handle it now...

God, those thin mints... its like they put crack in it or something.

Samoas are my favorite, and they're unaffected so far!

Trefoils FTW!

Those are some overpriced cookies to begin with.

some of those cookies you can find generic versions for, like thin mints. Anyone found a generic version of Samoas? Drool.

Obama needs to draw up an Executive order to restore the centimeter on the box of these cookies. This is not change I can believe in.

I thought this thread would be Fire selling girl scout cookies. :csad:

Oh sweet nectar...a couple of scouts and their leaders brought cookies to my office. :woot:

damn and i cant eat Girl scout cookies anymore....

If we had the FairTax, the Boxes would be bigger.

It's not OCD, it's Enlightenment.

Or, I like to play "6 Degress of the FairTax".

Though I like eating Girl Guide cookies, I have terrible memories of lugging them around my neighbourhood to sell. Motherf***ers are heavy!

The fairTax is the only thing you ever talk about. To my understanding thats OCD.

I'd think it would be better to buy a box of Keebler's Grasshoppers which are the brand name equivalent of the Thin Mint. You'd definitely be getting more.

^But if you buy those you are supporting the evil Keebler elves, and not the good works of the lovely and non-profit Girl Scouts/Guides :(
