I did think the way they did "We Will Rock You" was pretty cool.
And on the shallow end of the pool, Darren can go sleeveless and put those little shorts back on and do aerobics again any time he wants to. Plus any miraculous occasion where his hair gets messed up gets bonus points from me, because it automatically makes him look better.
Sadly, a couple cool acoustic covers and ogling Darren were the only enjoyable parts of the episode for me.
Ryder's confession and his conversation with Kitty were decently-done, but I'm getting tired of Glee trotting out the "traumatic event of the week", especially coming right on the heels of the school shooting episode. It's too much and frankly seems like a cheap ratings ploy, especially considering they don't really do anything substantial with the storylines they bring up.
Sam and Artie's reactions were moronic but not really unrealistic for teenage boys, unfortunately. There is a HUGE double standard about when boys are molested by women versus when girls are molested by men, and I have read comments IRL identical to theirs, so it wasn't necessarily unrealistic that they reacted that way, but I did think it needed some resolution where they apologized to Ryder, instead of it just getting dropped and Sam and Artie remaining oblivious to how wrong their reactions were.
Also, a school continuing with classes with flashlights and candles after power goes out was ridiculously contrived and unrealistic even by Glee standards and such a lame excuse to do acoustic songs. They didn't even try to explain Finn or Brittany's absences (seriously, just say Finn's cramming for a test or something, not that hard). And "At the Ballet" was interminably boring.
I really liked "We Will Rock You" and thought it was a really nifty way of doing it. "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" and "Longest Time" weren't bad either.
But both this episode and the last one have been kind of jumbled mixed bags, more so than most of the episodes preceding them. I hope the last two are more cohesive and not as all over the place as these last two.
