Glee Episode V: The Sylvester Strikes Back - - - Part 12

I'm sure the renewal for two more seasons has gotten Murphy excitedly planning the thus far unexplored possibilities of Artie 2.0, Blaine 2.0 (which would sort of be Kurt 3.0, considering the last two seasons have shifted Blaine more toward Kurt 2.0), Tina 2.0 (there's barely a Tina 1.0), etc.

They've already got Unique as Mercedes 2.0, I forgot about that one. And they were hardcore making Finn into Schuester 2.0 for a while there, right down to wearing sweatervests and kissing Emma!

Well, I would hope Murphy would be more self aware than just making an entire class of old ND clones, but when it comes to Glee, I think Murphy abandoned his self-awareness a long time ago.

Well, going forward, I mean. A handful of new characters that resemble old ND is one thing. The entire club after Blaine/Sam/Tina, etc. graduate essentially just being do-overs of the old characters is going to be like "Really, Ryan? Come on..."

Honestly, he might as well just shift the action 100% to NYC after the last of the "old guard" graduate.

Just move Finn and Blaine to NYC (since we know that's where they're ending up eventually anyway) and commit fully to the new setting.

It would probably be for the best, though it's a shame that that's the case, because a writers room that was actually trying probably could've come up with something fresh and wonderful at McKinley, but Murphy and co. basically have been half-assing it ever since they decided to keep so many of the damn graduates (Mike and Mercedes are still listed as regulars? Seriously?) on board.

Well Jessalyn Gilsig was listed as a regular all through Season 2, and she appeared maybe slightly more than Amber Riley and Harry Shum have.

But yea, it's pretty silly to have "regulars" who appear once in a blue moon.

It kinda stinks of desperation on Murphy's part. Is he seriously so desperate to keep these actors from wandering too far from the show that he keeps them locked into this kind of commitment, even though he only utilizes them when ND "needs" their "expertise"?

Probably. He's probably got Lea, Chris, Darren etc pretty ironclad, though he obviously gives those three quite a bit of leeway about pursuing their own side projects (writing Darren out of a couple episodes last season for his Broadway stint, etc).

They're not removing McKinley, they already said they're keeping the split narrative.

Anyway, a few spoilers from All Or Nothing.

Brittany returns from her MIT tour with a new attitude, and Santana advises her once the discrepancies between Brittany's near-perfect SAT scores and generally low test grades is brought into light.

Two members of New Directions refuse to perform at Regionals.

Marley finds out who the catfisher is, and claims to be the catfisher to maintain peace in the glee club, but this only further tensions, forcing the real catfisher to admit his/her identity.

Blaine remains decided to propose to Kurt despite being advised otherwise, and this leads him and Kurt to witness a special moment that changes their world views.

There's something for Will and Emma.

And the full songlist, because I don't it was posted.

"Clarity" - Frida Romero and the Hoosierdaddies.
"Wings" - Frida Romero and the Hoosierdaddies.
"All or Nothing" - Marley and Blaine (Original song).
"I Love It" - Kitty, Brittany, Tina and Unique.
"Hall of Fame" - Ryder, Jake, Artie, Sam and Joe.
"To Love You More" - Rachel.

We know Patty Duke and Meredith Baxter's characters talk about marriage equality (the latest PSA?) and how much better things are for the young generation, so I'm thinking Klaine witness their wedding or something.

There are also spoilers that Blaine doesn't end up proposing, though I'm not sure how confirmed they are. We know he asks Burt's advice, and there's also spoilers that he talks to Sam about it (who thinks it's a bad idea).

I really hope he doesn't (because that would just top every ridiculous ill-conceived thing he's ever done), but I'd be fine with he and Kurt reconnecting by seeing the lesbian couple marry and realizing that's what they want, and that they want it with each other (eventually). Something along those lines.

Has anybody seen the music video to Call On Me? :wow:

I'm finally watching the episode from two weeks ago. It's used the Harlem Shuffle twice in the first few minutes. I want to stop watching. :o

Is that the episode when Finn goes to college? I haven't seen that episode.

Yup. And Darren Criss and a bunch of aerobics women basically do soft-core porn while Jane Lynch screams at them.

Then in the next episode after that, Glee makes its latest PSA about molestation, w00t!

The aerobics was last week. The week before was where Puck and Finn apparently time traveled back to a 1980s frat comedy. :o

You're right. I just realized that and came back to edit it.

"Sweet Dreams" in a nutshell:

- Finn and Puck in an '80s college movie
- "Don't Stop Believing" reprise
- NeNe Leakes screaming nonsense into the camera
- Will/Finn bromance restored (awww)
- Marley's original song are teh awesome, like omg girlfriend! (not really)
- Idina Menzel wanders onset for like a minute

"Lights Out" in a nutshell

- power goes out and for some reason McKinley still holds class
- this is quickly revealed as the lame excuse for acoustic numbers
- NeNe Leakes still screaming nonsense
- victims of molestation bonding, w00t!
- softcore porn video starring Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, and a bunch of aerobics women (now that description could put some disturbing images in your head if you haven't seen the scene yet)
- Jane Lynch shamelessly pimping her upcoming performance in Annie
- Sarah Jessica Parker returns to whisk Santana, Kurt, and Rachel onstage, where they sing for like, half an hour
-

lol oh that NeNe...

I love NeNe but coach Roz will probably be her worst role. Though I can't wait for Roz/Sue showdown. But knowing glee they will probably skip over it and just have sue show up one day like nothing ever happened.

And this really makes she wish that Santana had taken Sues offer for a while so we could've seen a Santana vs. Sue vs. Roz. Suesb shouldve happened earlier so Santana could be Iin Iit then move to NY.

Some stuff.

The first half of Season 5 will focus on the culmination of the school year. Proms, Nationals and Graduation are expected.

The storyline of Sam and Blaine investigating Becky's connection to the school shooting has been cut from Lights Out and will become an ongoing storyline in Season 5.

Season 5 will pick up pretty much exactly where Season 4 ends. There'll be many cliffhangers.

As if anyone will be caring about that storyline when S5 picks up.

Or they could have just left it in "Lights Out" instead of cutting it for....what? So "At the Ballet" could go on for an hour? If nothing else, it would have been a little fluffy silliness to balance out random molestation double whammy...
