"God bless America?" wtf?

blind_fury said:
So if the president said, "God bless humanity", he must belive in a single world government?

Not at all, but if you say that he's wrong to say God bless America, you're pretty saying that you don't have a high opinion of your country.

why the f**k do people have to toake issue with every little thing?
and yes, the rest of the world can go to hell.
wow, you do sound like a drunken billionaire.

Shouldn't it?

Only if you want to give a chance for the rest of the world to vote away first world countries.

No. I have a mostly favorable opinion of the United States but saying "God bless America" is like Paris Hilton saying "God bless Paris Hilton" infront of a crowd of homeless people.

Why would you expect the President of the United States to not wish his country the best?

Would you really expect other world leaders to not wish their countries the best?

I generally don't mind the saying, as whilst the USA is busy blessing God, the rest of the world is out doing something useful.

So I guess the rest of the world can go straight to hell. Wouldn't "God bless humanity" be more appropriate?

Exactly...

The poorest countries should wish the best for their own countries the but the richest countries should wish the best for the poorest countries.

President Bush: "God bless America!"
God: :whatever:

I will say this the phrase "God Bless America" has a ring to it, it has cache, it does make a good slogan, the political version of the jingle you can't get out of your head. Harper tried saying "God Bless Canada" sometimes a few years back, but it never caught on, it didn't have a ring to it, it didn't have cache.

"God bless America. To the rest of the world: SEE YOU IN HELL....from heaven."

It's a song written by a U.S. Immigrant and a Broadway songwriter, nothing more. Jealousy is not a good attribute.

I read in Time Magazine a couple months ago, that 16 % of Americans believe that God favors America over all others.

Or how about "God Save the Queen"?

Its a phrase that was used when the country was founded,it does not bother me.When America was founded,i can imagine they needed all the support they could get.So "God Bless America" does make sence.

Its the British anthem that applies to either Queen Elizibeth or Victoria.

I read somewhere that the world is filled with stupid people.

It's just meant like when you pray "And God please bless grandma, and Mommy and Daddy, and Puddles..."

God Bless America, Land That I Love...
The blessings they beg do not exclude blessings for others, they're just talking about their beloved country at the time.

I'm listening to a Serge Gainsbourg song, and Bugs is dancing in perfect time

perhaps originally, but with the whole "america bless god" and the strange post september 11th mentality seems to have a whole new meaning now.

So blind_fury hates America and thinks 14 year old boys should have sex.

*writes down*

I was going to say that while god may bless America, it appears he's only saving the queen.
