Not to be confused with God of war. ( It can't be any way it's a different style of gameplay among other things)

God Wars: Future Past will launch physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in North America and Europe in early 2017 via publisher NIS America.

The Kadokawa Games-developed strategy RPG explores the untold history of Japan through folklore and tactical combat. Players will experience the traditional stories of Japan’s origin through the lens of three warring nations.

Get the full overview below.
About
A long time ago, there was a beautiful land made up of three nations: Fuji, Izumo, and Hyuga. This land was called Mizuho. The people of Mizuho disliked conflict, honored their ancestral spirits, and lived in harmony with nature. However, over time, they began cultivating crops, forging and using metal, fighting wars, destroying nature, and neglecting to honor their ancestral spirits.

In the meantime, various locations in Mizuho suffered from natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. In order to stop a destructive eruption, the Queen of Mizuho, Tsukuyomi, sacrificed her beloved daughter Sakuya to the mountain, confined her other daughter Kaguya within a bamboo seal in case of future disasters, and then disappeared. 13 years later, Princess Kaguya has grown into a beautiful woman and her childhood friend, Kintaro, saves her during a riot. She rises against her “fate to be a sacrifice,” and in order to follow her own path, they both escape from Fuji and journey across Mizuho to discover the truth behind Tsukuyomi’s decision.

The trailer starts out with a look at one of the game’s main characters, Ookuninushi the prince of Izumo Nation. He’s the eldest son of Izumo’s king, Susanoo. He’s very handsome, a smooth talker, and rumored to be quite the ladies man. He took an interest in Kaguya, and decided to help her on her journey.

On the other hand, we have Ookuninushi, the eldest son of Hyuga’s queen, Amaterasu. He’s talented in both literary and military arts. As the heir apparent, he garners plenty of attention. He’s full of spirit, and makes calculation decisions. His ideal nation is a centralized nation.

God Wars: Future Past details Jobs system
Published 10 hours ago. 11 comments.

From Samurai to Spiritualist and more.

God-Wars_04-17-17.jpg

NIS America has shared new information about the different types of jobs you can choose and level up in the upcoming strategy RPG God Wars: Future Past.

Get the details below.
■ Jobs Overview
Each character has access to three types of jobs:

    • Main Job – Determines equippable items, stat growth and distribution, and allows you to learn and use skills related to that job using Job Points.
    • Sub Job – Allows you to learn and use skills related to that job using Job Points.
    • Unique Job (Unable to Change) – Each character’s Unique Job grants them access to their own personal sets of upgradable skills.

■ Types of Jobs
By advancing the Job Level of your current jobs, you will fulfill requirements to unlock new jobs. Some jobs require leveling up multiple jobs to unlock.

God-Wars_04-17-17_Tree.jpg
■ Physical Combat Type Jobs
Warrior (Beginner)
A base of all fighting job types. Their stat growth is low, but if you train them to a certain level, it’s recommended to change their job to Samurai or Archer. But, Warriors have all the necessary skills to be tanks, such as “Taunt,” “Guts,” “Equip Shield,” and more, so you should most likely keep it as your Sub Job.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Taunt” will increase your own Impurity. It’s a must-have skill for tanking.
    • “Heavy Blow” is an attack that sacrifices AIM. It’s recommended to use with a passive skill that enhances your AIM.

Samurai (Intermediate)
A key front-row attacker that is very flexible. Samurai have various attacks. For example, “Wrist Strike” and “Body Pierce” are break-type attacks that lower the enemy’s ATK, and “Swallow Slash” and “Dragon Strike Flash” can attack enemies from a distance. Use different skills according to the situation to defeat enemies efficiently.
Distinct skills include:

    • “Gale Attack” is a Ki-element, long distance attack. Its range is wide, and is very effective on small maps.
    • “Dragon Strike Flash” is a physical attack that attacks 6 vertical spaces at once. Draw enemies close and attack them all at once.

Archer (Intermediate)
An intermediate level job that specializes in the Move and Jump stats, and also uses bows and crossbows for long-range attacks. Using the “Move+1” passive skill increases their range of motion. Also, “Poison Attack” and “Sparking Flash” are long-range attacks that have additional effects. This job can support the party from behind.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Charge” is a skill that increases ATK for the next turn. Use it before enemies step within your range.
    • “Heavenly Drop” rains multiple flame arrows down on enemies. Try using it when animal-type enemies are gathered in one place.

Herculean (Advanced)
A more advanced job class than Warrior and Samurai, it features high HP and DEF. Their close-range physical attacks are appealing, but “Barricade,” a higher version of “Guts,” will reduce damage received by 10%. They can stand in front of enemies as the ultimate tank.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
Daredevil (Advanced)
An advanced job class that has a high ATK, and uses both close and long range weapons. Their specialty is “Dual Wield,” which allows them to equip two weapons. Seeing how well they can slash through enemies can give you a pleasant feeling.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
Hunter (Advanced)
An advanced version of the Archer job class, they use bows and crossbows, and can run across the battlefield setting traps with their high Move stat. They can use various long-range attacks with status effects, and they can take on the role of long-range physical attackers, as well.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
■ Recovery Support Type Jobs
Priest (Beginner)
Priest is the standard healing support job class, but their stats are not that high. You will want to move up to a better job. But, you should train until you learn “Proficiency+,” a passive skill that increases your JP earnings. Your growth speed for skill will noticeably increase after learning that skill.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Recovery Prayer” is a healing skill that will be highly prized at the beginning. If you focus and distribute your JP properly, you will be able to train it so that it can fully heal a single ally.
    • “Exorcism Prayer” will let you recover from status conditions. As you increase the skill level, you can heal different status effects.

Monk (Intermediate)
Monk is a healing support type, but they have high HP and DEF, and can be effective from the front or back rows. They have skills like “Jump+1” and “Shortcuts” that increase their mobility, which will definitely come in handy on high altitude stages.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Herb Studies” is a very useful skill that recovers an individual’s HP and status effects at the same time. By leveling up this skill, you can recover from various types of status effects.
    • “Shortcuts” lets you increase your Move for a few turns. You can use this to go between the front and back rows to support allies.

Shintoist (Intermediate)
Shintoist is a powerful job class that can heal many allies at once or charge them with elements. However, their Impurity tends to increase quickly, and if they go too far ahead, they’ll be targeted right away. Make sure to keep an eye on their Impurity.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Bravery Ritual” increases the ATK and AIM of all allies in range. You should use it at the beginning of a battle.
    • “Metempsychosis” increases the possibility an ally may survive a deathblow with 1 HP remaining.

Shinobi (Advanced)
Shinobi is an advanced job class that features high EVD and Move stats, which are enriched with various skills. They use skills that frustrate enemies, such as “Water-Escape,” “Konohagakure,” and “Cicada”, and they has a unique skill that let’s them teleport, “Illusion.” Teleport behind an enemy and use “Foul Murder.” They have a flexible battle style.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
Barrierist (Advanced)
Barrierist is unlocked by leveling up the Hunter and Conjurer jobs. It’s a unique, advanced support/defense type of job class. They heal and enhance resistances. Like hammering down a wedge, placing a Barrierist in the front row will stabilize your advancement.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
Ritualist (Advanced)
An advanced job class exclusive for males that can be unlocked by leveling up as a Shintoist. They attack and interrupt enemies by the sacred sounds they offer to the Gods. They have many wide-ranged skills that debuff enemies. Their abilities are very effective for turning the tide of battle.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
Maiden (Advanced)
An advanced job class exclusive for females that can be unlocked by leveling up as a Shintoist. By offering dances to the Gods, they can heal and support allies. Unlike Ritualists, they have many buff skills that enhance recovery, and as an improvement over Shintoists, they offer great support to the party.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
■ Offensive Spellcasting Type Jobs
Magician (Beginner)
Magician is a useful job class at the beginning. Their skills are very powerful, and they are definitely main attackers. Also they have “MP+” and “Meditation,” which allows them to recover their own MP. They have various skills and worth learning.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Cyclone Spell” is a ki element skill that has a wide attack range. It’s also very effective against aerial enemies, like hawks.
    • “Meditation” is a useful skill that recovers MP without using any MP. You should use it when the battle begins.

Spiritualist (Intermediate)
Spiritualist is an evolved version of the Magician job class. They use wide-ranged magic attacks, so they can effectively cast spells in areas with a lot of enemies. However, many of their skills consume a lot of MP, and there are times when you’ll want to use their spells consecutively.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Fiery Words” is one of the most powerful magic spells at the beginning. Lure enemies in and annihilate them all.
    • “Dual Destruction” deals great damage to opponents’ HP and MP. It can make them incompetent.

Incantor (Intermediate)
Incantors inflict status effects with skills like “Poison Curse” or “Slow Curse.” Status effects in GOD WARS are very effective, so it’s important to utilize them to gain an advantage in battle.
Distinct Skills include:

    • “Paralysis Curse” is a skill that immobilizes an opponent. It’s effective when you want to immobilize a healer, or interrupt an opponent’s turns.
    • “Devil Gate” randomly selects 3 of 7 status effects to inflict. Opponents that are inflicted with 3 status effects are pretty much useless.

Celestial (Advanced)
Celestial is an advanced version of Spiritualist, who have mastered powerful, wide and long-range magic attacks. Many magic attacks have elemental effects, and they are all powerful, but they consume a lot of MP. But, they have the “Reduce MP Cost” passive skill, so if you combine it with “MP+” or “MP Recovery+,” you can make them the centerpiece of your offense.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
Elemental (Advanced)
Elemental is unlocked by leveling up the Spiritualist and Incantor jobs. It’s an advanced job class that features high DEF, and they’re able to equip front row weapons. They can inflict status effects, use long-range elemental attacks, heal HP/MP, and can equip all weapons except axes, bows, or crossbows. They’re well-rounded and can help in any situation.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.
Confucian (Advanced)
Confucian is an advanced version of Incantor. They can control time and use interruption skills. They can use the skills “Time Forward” and “Time Wind” to control the number of turns buffs and debuffs last. They’re also the only ones who can use “Hostility,” which manipulates Impurity. You can control the flow of battle, depending on how you use them.
Distinct Skills to be detailed at a later date.

God Wars: Future Past DLC ‘Labyrinth of Yomi’ first details, screenshots
Published 18 hours ago. 4 comments.

100-plus hours of additional gameplay.

God-Wars-Future-Past_10-27-17_001.jpg

Kadokawa Games has released the first information and screenshots of its newly announced God Wars: Future Past large-scale DLC, “Labyrinth of Yomi.”

Due out this winter in Japan, the downloadable content will add an “extra large” dungeon loaded with various elements, including 50 stages that exceeds the volume of the main story, super difficult stages with a recommended level of 70 or higher, a multi-ending story where the outcome changes depending on the player’s choices, Momotaro and his companions as playable characters, and more.

Get the details below.

? A Total of 50 Stages! An “Extra Large” Dungeon That Exceeds the Volume of the Main Story
The setting of this downloadable content is the underground dungeon “Labyrinth of Yomi,” a place where the dead go to rest deep in the mountains of Izumo. In addition to 50 stages that exceed the volume of the main story, an “Average / Good / Excellent” evaluation system based on the amount of damage dealt and number of turns taken per map is also being prepared. This is downloadable content of overwhelming volume that requires no less than 100 hours to play through everything.

—“Labyrinth of Yomi” image board.

? Recommended Level: 70 to 199! Powered-Up Bosses Await Kaguya and Company
In this downloadable content, the maximum level of characters and some skills have been unlocked. By training beyond the previous limit, you can significantly develop the characters that did not play a major role in the main story. Naturally, the strength of enemies are also in a different league. Bosses bestowed with the power of Yomi to become even more brutal will stop at nothing to attack Kaguya and company.

—Battles that surpass the limit of the main story will unfold in this downloadable content.

—The menu screen. The maximum level has been unlocked for some skills.

? Hyuga Hero Momotaro and his Crew are Finally Playable
Momotaro, the first prince of Hyuga and Kaguya and Okuninushi’s rival, will be playable. Momotaro’s unique job, “Kijin (Fierce God),” is a vanguard job with skills that increase attack power to the extent that Impurity increases. Hit the boss with fierce attacks while taking in the attacks of enemies on the front line—this is the type of role the Kishi (Fierce God) job will play. Other than Momotaro, his companions Inu, Saru, and Kiji are also playable.

—The story of Momotaro’s companions Inu, Saru, and Kiji is also depicted.

God-Wars-Future-Past_10-27-17_007.jpg
? A Multi-Ending Story that Delves into the Heroes’ Pasts
In this downloadable content, Kaguya’s past is told along the way to Yomi, where Tsukuyomi and Susanoo lie at rest. The hidden feelings of the heroes little said in the main story will become clear, such as Kaguya and Kintaro’s encounter, Susanoo and Okuninushi’s parent-child conflict, and “a certain incident” where Momotaro comes to seek strength as a king. Furthermore, through the use of a multi-ending system, you can enjoy three types of endings that change based on the player’s choices and method of capture.

—A young Momotaro and Iwanaga. What is their past?

Other than “this winter,” a release date and price for “Labyrinth of Yomi” have yet to be announced. Currently, a release has only been confirmed for Japan.

However, over time, they began cultivating crops, forging and using metal, fighting wars, destroying nature, and neglectinng to honor their ancestral spirits. Thirteen years later, Princess Kaguya has grown into a beautiful woman and her childhood friend, Kintaro, saves her during a riot. She rises against her “fate to be a sacrifice,” and in order to follow her own path, they both escape from Fuji and journey across Mizuho to discover the truth behind Tsukuyomi’s decision.
