Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: Chapter 1 OOC Thread

So flowing forth with the usual level of politeness I see!

Seriously though, how regular is the posting etc?

noooooooooo

I actually meant to post last night O.O;;;

I can get a post up tonight though! O.O Even if it's just you and I..........:(

And it will probably be another week or so before we have another flurry of posts. And then there will be another long streak of inactivity. Don't get me wrong, I want this game to thrive more than anybody. But not being able to put forth a consistent effort will eventually kill this RPG. :o

Screen Name: Shlee

Character you have created: Kohana Taurë (meaning Small Forest Flower). Also known to some as just Hana (meaning flower)

Race/Culture: Elf, from Japan

Racial Traits: Low-light vision, resistance to magical enchantments, and never sleeping, only meditating

Character Class: Druid

Patron Deity: Obad-Hai

Magic: Druidic

Speech Color and/or Font: Verdana

Character Alignment:
Neutral

Character Personality:
Kohana is a very reserved elf, even for elven standards. She shares the idea that her race is superior, and because of her long lifespan, has come to regard the humans as tiny specks of dirt in the road of life. At this juncture, she's at one with nature, under the idea that the ends -always- justify the means, and she will do whatever has to be done to maintain the balance in the world. Quiet, reserved, with a kind of silent arrogance, she is aloof and anti-social. However, once someone has finally weasled their way under her hard exterior, they will find her to be trustworthy, fiercely loyal, and delicate. This in no way should peg her as 'that kind of person'. While long-lived and long-established in her ways, she is not immune to change and adaptation where necessary, slow as it might be.

Origin Info/Details: Kohana grew up in the forests skirting the mountainous regions of Japan. Kino Rei, the name of the Elvish kingdom there, is situated near the base of Fujiyama. The buildings are carefully sung and sculpted of the trees and bamboo native to the area. Though not visited often by the humans and other races in the area, the elves safeguard their kingdom by weaving magics to keep it hidden. She was raised as an avid follower of Obad-Hai, though during her 'youth' she never studied it fiercely or felt a deep pull. However, an accident in her 50th year awakened a need in her to serve the God of the Forest, and she has worn the mantle of druid of Obad-Hai since then. Much of her past is shrouded in mystery; she left the kingdom upon her 100th year, setting out to travel and see the world, and has since been a nomad through Japan and China, relying on the earth to sustain her.

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG: I think I can bring creativity, depth, experience, and a fresh spin to the RPG. I think I can help flesh out the world, and make a truly three-dimensional space where more than one or two cultures are portrayed. I believe I can bring insight, humor, and fun to the RPG as well.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
At least once, if not more. It depends on the activity of others.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards:
Yes

Sample Post:

Starlight filtered through the broad leaves of the Japanese maple that skirted the forest. A line of gold could be seen touching the horizon; the sun was almost awake.

'I had best move quickly.'

Stepping lightly from the woods a figure emerged; it was obviously feminine, but features were indistinguishable from the black forest surrounding her. She strode quickly and with purpose towards the small empirical-style house, never making a sound in the tall grass that surrounded it.

'Shimatta!' she thought to herself as she peered in the windows. Dust caked the floor, chairs, table, every possible surface. Aside from the pawprints of raccoons and other small animals, it looked like the house hadn't been disturbed in centuries.

"Hello Hana," a deep, ponderous voice said in her ear. All at once the house burst into life; candles were lit and a fire was crackling merrily in the fireplace. A woman was already awake inside, preparing the morning meal.

"Damn you, Tora. Every time I fall for this," she growled, turning to stare at the man who was her mentor and only friend. He only smiled his smug smile at her and waved a hand.

"You should know by now not to let your eyes deceive you. Or were you in that big of a hurry?" He gently grasped her elbow and began to pull her along towards the front of the house, entering quietly with Kohana in tow.

In the dim, flickering light of the fire it was easier to see. Tora regarded her quietly, taking in the dark set of her face.

"I know where you're going... And why. You have my blessing; I know what you are doing is a message from the gods. But remember, Hana. Vigilence! Use more than just your eyes to see, and patience in all things." The man completed his speech, wagging a stern finger at Kohana, though mirth danced behind his eyes.

She watched him silently, dark emerald eyes taking in his weathered face for what could presumably be the last time. His hair had turned a snowy shade of white, and he'd let it grow to his waist. His beard, while whispy, was the same shade of white, and the same length. He dressed himself in the trappings of the humans he deigned to surround himself with. She frowned distastefully as she glanced at his wife, but refrained from speaking. If he wanted to pass himself off as a human living out the end of his days, who was she to argue. He was at peace; and that meant balance. She could forgive him his wants if it meant the balance upheld.

"Arigatou gozaimasu, sensei." It was all that needed to be said. He merely nodded once at her as she bowed deeply and respectfully to him. She repositioned the longbow over her shoulder, corrected the chest strap for her quiver, and silently left the house.

And never looked back.

A japanese elf, interesting.

Glad to have you aboard, Shlee. Hopefully we can get some more fresh blood in here.

And expect for the first shot of Charaun's war to be fired soon.

You've got plenty of time to catch up and develop your character before things begin to really take off.

W00t! Post number one-hundred! I know it means absolutely ****, but still...W00t! :yay: :oldrazz:

Johnny I know I promised you one yesterday but I never got to finish it. :/ My muse died. -ironically since I was writing about that in the post-

I'll try my hardest to get it up tomorrow, doubtful if today will happen. I'm sorry. :(

I was looking forward to reading a new Aithne post too. :csad:

Oh well, as long as you get one up. That's what matters.

My internet has been down recently a couple of times, and now I'm back online, I need to catch up with all my business stuff(as a lot of it is net based), so I'm a little behind, but still wanna carry on with this!

Cool. Just re-post your app and you're good to go.

What else have we heard before? Oh, yeah. I'm dropping Brottor. Not really feeling the guy in prose fiction form, but whatever. I'll be getting a post up soon. It's a new character, one I hope will prompt more activity here, and no, I'm not gonna post an app right now. This game is dying, and Johnny's not around to approve anyway.

So.. off we go.
