- First movie I haven't liked at all this summer and after such amazing trailers, it was even more of a shocker."

Well if you based your expectations on trailers that's a very silly thing to do. Trailers cut to get you in the seat not show the quality of the movie. I have learned to never believe the trailers as they are only there to show us what the movie is about and basically stuff they think we want to see so that we go buy a ticket for the whole product.

I was just commenting that the trailers looked really good and as with all other movie trailers, raised my expectations of the movie.

I don't think it's silly to be excited for a movie based on the trailers.....how else would I be excited for it? Pictures? A news article?

I thought this was disappointing. I didnt like it at all.

Just got back and I was VERY disappointed. This is the first film in a while that I have had to fight to keep myself from walking out. The end fight was cool but whoever decided to have Godzilla be a cameo in his on film needs an ass whooping.

Come to think of it, most of the Godzilla content is all seen in the trailers.

I did honestly have this song in my head while our lead character was under water for what seemed like a decade.....

Saw the flick earlier today... not what I was expecting but very pleased. It wasn't a master piece nor though that was the intent... it was a bad @$$ old school monster flick.

I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. It had some very cool monster fight scenes. The people could have been more interesting, they were all kinda bland except for Cranston. Still I was entertained the whole time. I'd happily go see a sequel. :)

I was planning to see this but my friend sort of discouraged me. Apparently the two things I was most excited for in the film, godzilla and cranston are both [BLACKOUT]only in it for like 20 minutes[/BLACKOUT].

This film is proof that Western studios should never touch the Godzilla property, ever. I don't want the British, Americans or any other Western group to ever produce a Godzilla film, ever again. This film was similar to watching Cloverfield, minus the awful cinematography. What the hell is Hollywood's problem with giving us giant monsters getting into fights? Why must we always get American monster movies that are about stupid humans and their unimportant feelings and experiences during the disaster? Michael Bay understands this with Transformers, which is why those films are a huge success. Godzilla shouldn't be a cameo in his own movie.

The film is two hours and three minutes in length. Godzilla has a confirmed total screen time of thirteen minutes, of which only seven at most are of him actually fighting. The rest of the time he is either roaring, walking or swimming...but mostly swimming.

Wow.

Yeah I was a big fan of Pacific Rim mainly due to all the sick kaiju and Jaeger action scenes we got.

My friend did compare it to Cloverfield to me, which I thought was a very overrated movie.

Except the Transformers flicks have been awful? Or how about the directors don't need to cater to people who want direct-to-dvd flicks that are 2 straight hours of Monsters fighting, because the vast majority of people don't want that. Godzilla is far from a cameo, he is involved in every part of the movie from 45% onward.

Cloverfield was a good movie that was nearly impossible to watch. There was so much shaky cam I was feeling barfy when I walked out. :( The monster was great though.

^This, especially in regards to Godzilla having only a cameo. He was far from being only a cameo. Ra's al Ghul appearing in TDKR is an example of a cameo. That is not the case in Godzilla.

Except, that's also how the majority of the Japanese Godzilla films go as well. The movies almost always center on the humans and the monster fight happens at the end. Now, not saying that it makes this a good movie or anything. But Edwards handled it in a similar fashion to most of the Japanese films.

Yeah, all those complaints are easily applicable to Final Wars.

Finally saw it for myself and the teases didn't bother me as much as I thought they would. I do wonder how I would've reacted had I been blindsided by it though. The movie did enough to keep me from feeling like I was just waiting for Godzilla to appear but even when he did...it just wasn't there for me. It wasn't thrilling for me. I thought I'd wanna jump outta my seat when I finally got to see Godzilla finally clash with the MUTO but my reaction was just "that's cool."

I'm sorry, but which Transformers movies were you watching? Those movies went out of their way to make Shia seem more important than he was and shove him down our throats. Killing Megatron in the first, going to robot heaven in the second, killing Starscream in the third. Not to mention all of the other human scenes full of stereotypes, sexist imagery, awkward slapstick, and bathroom humor. I wish those movies could be nothing but robots fighting. As much as I want to see Optimus Prime charge in on Grimlock in the new one, I'm dreading that I'll probably be forced to see John Turturro in his undies AGAIN to do so.

I love people saying he has a cameo in his own movie, it's the furthest thing from a cameo.

Yeah I got enough Godzilla in this. And when he wasn't on screen they showed a lot of MUTO which I enjoyed. Cue someone saying "well they should of called it MUTO!"
